First, let me vent. The shipping took a few weeks longer than they indicated. This frustrated me since we had company coming. Ok now that I'm past that I can say that packing was over the top (not that this is a bad thing); I don't think the bed could have been hurt if it feel off a moving truck. After you get through the 15 minutes of unpacking the bed parts, it gets pretty easy.The bed quality is really impressive. The wood is beautiful even my picky wife loved it she told me not to buy our sons bed online but I did so anyway and it paid off. The price fluctuates so check back often. Our deal was less than half the price of a similar one we saw at Macy's. Most importantly our 3 year old son loves it. Note that the top mattress is a twin xl and the trundle is a regular twin. We love the look of the bed and the price is beyond great. The shipping partner kind of stinks but it got here safe and sound (but late). All in all totally worth it.

The bed arrived within the time limit (ordered on 1/1/12 and arrived on 1/11/12). I think the bed is ok for a kid (up to 80 pounds) to use it. Very easy to set up. The side rails are held by just two wooden pins and one long screw on each extremity. The old bed we had, which was kind of similar to this one, had each extremity of the side rails held by one wooden pin and two long screws. When I sit on one side of the bed, the rail bends (I am 150 pounds). I feel that if I was heavier (maybe around 200 pounds) or simply if I sit on the side of the bed too fast or too hard it might break the side rail. I've asked my kids not to jump or throw themselves on the bed because I am afraid it may break.

Also, the color of the bed is much darker than what is shown in the picture (I'm ok with that but be careful if you are counting on the exact color).

The selling point for me was the trundle bed. You don't have to use a thin mattress. The bed and the trundle bed are twin sizes, so you can buy two 8.5 inch thick mattresses. We often have our nephew for sleep overs, and the trundle bed is great for an extra bed. Because our bedrooms are small, this bed was a life saver.

Other than the side rails, the bed feels sturdy (at least for now), but because of the few screws holding the bed together, I'm afraid the bed may become loose after a few months of use.

I bought this bed so that I could sleep along side my 1 year old baby son in daytime. I weigh 110 pounds and my son weighs probably 20 pounds now. There was no jumping whatsoever. Both the slats broke in the middle all of a sudden. If this is a bed for small kid only, it should have said so in the description!

Another thing I was surprised to see is that the trundle got no locks on its wheels! When you sleep on it, the trundle literally moves whenever you turn your body. Seriously, no locks?

I am not sure why other people don't have this problem from the reviews I read. Probably only small kids were using it.

Beautiful, beautiful but side boards, which must hold the weight of the sleeper, is made of FIBER BOARD. I could not believe this. We put these beds up but they were not used for over 30 days, so had no idea of the quality. The very first night they were used, both broke. One only had the slats break, no big deal, they are very weak boards but you can replace with good wood from Lowes. The other bed broke completely down. The side board broke vertically, the entire bed fell. No fixing that. The weight on the bed was less than 200 pounds. Tried to return but was told more than 30 days. Now I either toss out $700 worth of beds or try to rebuild the side boards and slats with REAL wood. The trundles are also fiber material and are just waiting for someone over 100 pounds to use and break. I am sick about these. I am stuck but anyone looking to buy these, please reconsider. They will probably work for small, inactive children but that is about all.
