Cute, simple, solid. My husband set it up in minutes in the garage, about a week before the big switch, so our daughter could see it and know it was coming. She immediately loved her big girl bed and wanted to climb in, even though there was no mattress in it. We didn't let her walk around in it long, but it seemed capable of holding her weight (I like that the mattress supports are two solid pieces that cover the bottom of the bed and are not just slats.) We left her crib set up in her room the first night of the switch but she wasn't interested. The next day she helped me dismantle it. I think the fact that she's still sleeping on the same mattress and sheets helped with the transition, and this particular bed is so classic and well made that its worth the cost. I've sat on it myself and felt secure.
