My table cracked and a big piece fell out the night before Thanksgiving. I was having relatives for the holidays and needed a replacement before December 20th. I checked with about 8 glaziers in the NYC area but found their prices to be very expensive without delivery or that they didn't have the size I needed or they had the size but not the beveled edge. I did a search on Amazon and found exactly what I was looking for and at a wonderful price. I got fast and free delivery. Perfect!!

It was extremely hard to determine if this was tempered glass. From what I have been able to determine this is not tempered glass and in my mind creates a possible safety issue for uses where the glass is not fully supported by a table top. The price is good, however when I determined that it was not tempered glass I attempted to cancel my order with Amazon. The response was that the were not able to cancel the order even though it had not yet shipped and the earliest delivery was estimated at over 10 days away from the cancellation request date? However they were gracious to suggest that I refuse delivery.

For safety reasons just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that this is not tempered glass I would hate to see a child hurt by and accident with furniture glass.

I was concerned about the thickness of 8MM...it is fine.

It is tempered and will resist shattering very well.

The only reason why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had to order this item twice which was a bit of a hassle because the first one arrived completely broken. Thankfully, the delivery truck guy could also hear the broken glass inside the box and recommended that I refuse delivery. Eventually after speaking with Amazon they ordered a replacement to be sent out and it arrived less than a week later. It fit perfectly onto my Crate & Barrel table and the glass itself is pretty thick/heavy, and so I don't forsee any issues with cracking or anything like that in the near future.

Overall it was a good buy, but as with any online purchases, you have to consider the risks of ordering something breakable/fragile and how willing you are to potentially deal with a return/exchange as a trade-off for saving some money. I'd say if you want a new table top immediately, spend the extra money to buy it locally. Otherwise, if you're willing to wait a couple weeks, order this one and you'll be just as satisfied.

The first table top showed up in badly damaged/loose packaging and there was visible damage to the side of the glass visible without opening it. I setup the return online (very easy), UPS picked up the damaged item the following day, and received the replacement piece five days after my original order (I'm a prime member). The packaging on the replacement was still a little sketchy but the table top was damage free. Overall, it delayed me getting the table top by a few days but the return process was hassle free and it was worth the wait.

The table top is perfect size for our condo dining room exactly what we wanted. I love the beveled edge, it is very comfy to rest your arms against and looks great.
