Bush Furniture Homestead Video Base

I purchased this item from a local electronics store in hopes it would be the last "TV Stand" that I would have to buy. It looks great and fit my needs perfectly. For the first 6 months it did its job, stand there and hold my 27" TV, VCR, DVD, and A/V Receiver. Then, I went to open the doors one day and it seemed that they had fallen out of alignment. I re-adjusted them and did not think much about it. Within the next week they were out of alignment again! Well, upon further investigation, the weight of the TV (less than 100 pounds) had caused the middle support to break the horizontal bottom shelf. Bush would not fix it and it was obviously out of warranty from the store. I would not recommend this item to anyone that has over a 13" Tube TB or a 26" Flat-Screen. Do not trust the "Holds 36-inch conventional TVs (up to 240 pounds) and most 60-inch flat-panel TVs (up to 154 pounds"

I'm surprised at the negative reviews for this item. We ordered one in 2007 and ours has held up well with no complaints. I put it together by myself in a few hours longer than it would have taken my husband, but it was easy enough to do. I was impressed at the thought put into the construction and the design details. No, it's not some last-you-into-retirement $3K piece of furniture. But it's not your typical particle board Ikea fare, either. Our stand has been holding a 36" CRT TV and still looks great. It has survived a cross-country move and my 11 month old climbing on the doors, all while supporting a 200lb dinosaur of a television set. For the $300 $400 we paid, I'm more than pleased. It's nearly impossible to find a TV stand deep enough for our TV anymore. This fit the bill and has served us well. I have no qualms about recommending it.

We got a very good price on this at Amazon. Yes, it had to be assembled. It took my husband and a friend about two hours taking their time. It went together very well and looks great. We are very satisfied.

This stand is particle board covered with thin vinyl coating. Time consuming assembly and had to drill new holes to put together properly. Definitely not worth the $400 advertised.
