I recently purchased this bed online after agonizing for weeks over it. I needed a new bed for a guest room, so I didn't want to spend a lot. I figured a platform bed would be the best bet, as the mattress and box spring we were going to use was about 15" high. I really don't like buying something I haven't seen in person, but I watched a product video, looked at swatches online (magnified), read ALL the reviews I could find on the product, and was encouraged by people online saying the bed was beautiful, etc. etc. I was more concerned that the company I was buying it through, CSN, might not be that reliable, as people seemed to be very critical about them. Many reviewers talking about CSN don't seem to understand that they are NOT the manufacturer of the products being ordered, and are actually a dropshipper, meaning they are a go-between for the manufacturer and the consumer. They shouldn't be blamed for flaws in the PRODUCT. I tried finding the Modus Nevis bed in a retail store so I could see it in person, but NOBODY had it. It seems most of their business is done online, although I DID manage to find another bed they make the RIVA, which I saw in person in a Sleepy's mattress store. I LOVED the Riva, and it looked really well made. I especially liked that the color was listed as "Espresso", the same as the Nevis, and it was so dark as to be almost black. It was really very pretty, but just to be extra-safe, I called the manufacturer (not easy to get their number, by the way), and asked if the Riva and Nevis beds were made of exactly the same wood, and were they the same color. I was told that they are exactly the same wood. So, feeling confident about the bed, but not so much about CSN, I made my online purchase. And....I have to say, CSN was awesome. I didn't have one bit of trouble with the purchase, the customer service, or the shipment. It arrived exactly when they said it would, and the driver even put it inside the doorway for me, even though the free shipping said it was only going to be curbside delivery. BUT and it's a BIG "but" the bed is NOT what I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong it's really sturdy and well-made, and relatively easy to assemble, although I do think IKEA beds are a bit easier to assemble. And the feet in the middle DO touch the floor you just have to get down there and unscrew them far enough. It has lovely lines, and the style is very pretty. Modern, but not so modern that it doesn't fit with my more traditional furniture. BUT the wood is a disappointment. As another reviewer pointed out, it DOES ding very easily. And it IS a pretty color, but it is NOT THE SAME COLOR AS THE RIVA, although MFI told me it is. It's more of a deep deep burgundy-brown, and it will be very hard to match a dresser to. If I had gotten the almost-black Riva, I would have been able to buy a black dresser to match. But the Nevis is going to be tough to match and I don't really want to buy another piece from MFI, sight unseen. The other thing I don't like about it is that the wood grain is very prominent on parts of the bed. It annoys me, but that's because I'm used to solid wood furniture I guess....I'm not sure. My husband and my daughter both really really like this bed, though, so if you aren't too fussy about the color of the wood, and you are looking for a solid, somewhat modern platform bed, this is definitely a nice bed for the price. Another thing that I have to admit is nice about this bed is that it isn't super-low to the ground, like so many platform beds. It's a reasonable height, especially for taller people. And the 15" height of our mattress and box works perfectly, as the top of the footboard is even with the top of the mattress. If you want to just use a mattress (the bed comes with wood slats as a mattress base), that will look fine too. I gave the bed four stars, because it really is sturdy, nice, and a great price but wasn't quite what I had hoped. And for the record, CSN was great, and I'd definitely buy from them again!

The pieces were nicely packaged and delivered. The delivery guys were nice enough to put the packages in my bedroom even though I had opted for a curb-side delivery. There is one dent in the side-rail (about 3/4 inch big), and two other minor dings when the packages were delivered (hence the 4 stars, or else it would easily be 5). The instructions are to the point and pretty easy. If you've never laid out slats before, this might be intimidating. Better get a person to help you with it, if you've never done it before. If you are the type who wont rest knowing that not all slats are screwed in, then this is not the bed for you. There are 12 slats and I could screw in only 6 of them. The instructions say that not all need to be screwed in. If you follow the instructions, you can probably assemble this by yourself and with some help from some thick books (to keep the side rails up when fixing it to the hearboard and footboard). We did get all hardware needed nothing was missing. The finish is good (i wont say great). But it definitely looks like you paid more than what you really did. Doesn't look like you got it from IKEA. Very elegant looking and modern / contemporary. This might not be the bed for you if you are thinking very low platform bed. We have a 12" mattress and a 1" bunky board. And this just about falls in line with the height of the footboard (which is slightly over 2 feet tall). So a thicker mattress or boxspring would ruin the look of the bed as it will surpass the height of the footboard. I searched around many websites for this same product, and Amazon had the best pricing and delivery options.

I just bought a house and was accordingly cash-poor, but needed a new bed and wanted to buy something I would be happy with for a few years before I decided to invest time and money into higher-end furniture. This bed seemed like a good compromise and I would probably consider buying it again in the same situation.
Delivery people were on time and carried the bed up to my 3rd-floor unit no problem. The main box was pretty beat up, but there were no scratches or other damage to the wood, so good job on packaging there.
Assembly was more irritating that it needed to be and there were a number of unfortunate engineering decisions:
trying to mount the central support beam under the slats after they had been laid was cumbersome and frustrating. It really should connect to the frame, not just the slates.
the outer frame is held together only by L-braces, which makes it difficult to square properly. Furthermore, the screws in the outer frame are somewhat obstructed by the slats, so tightening down after laying the slats to square the frame doesn't really work
the legs under the central support beam are poorly connected: the anchors all pulled out causing the legs to fall off and the bed to partially collapse while I was...practicing my "advanced partner yoga." The instructions did warn against over-tightening, which was probably the reason they ripped out, but there was no clear way to tell what over-tightening entailed. If they had used a 30-cent anchor instead of a 10-cent anchor, this would not be a problem. I fixed it with some wood screws to mount the legs to the beam, which seems to hold up just fine.
All things considered, I felt like a craftsman could have done a much better job engineering this piece and the result would only have been a marginal increase in the cost of the materials with considerably simplified setup and a sturdier product.
That said, the final product is decent after a bit of love. It looks good, it feels reasonably solid, and the price is pretty fair for something with a bit of style. And I do like the fact that buying matching bedroom furniture is easy.

The delivery company twice stuck a forkblade lift through the delivered boxes, but that's not Modus' fault it's Amazon's delivery company, and they refuse to use another.
The bed is sturdy, handsome, fairly easy to put together (even though the instructions fell out through a blade hole, so I had to make do with similar but different instructions from the website. Had some problems aligning the slats due to that.)
Otherwise though, very nice bed.
UPDATE: With age, this bed has started to have the creaking issues common in so many beds. Every few months I have to get under there and tighten up all the screws. Not particularly tough, but annoying.

I've owned the Nevis Queen for about 2 years now, and it's still holding strong.
Solid construction, a nice finish and sleek look make this a 4-star bed. It never creaks or cracks when I toss and turn on it, and giving it a good shake won't cause it to fall apart. The polished aluminum accents give it a slightly modern feel, and it doesn't take up a whole lot of room space, which I like.
I do have a couple of gripes about the bed, however. Installation was not the easiest. As another reviewer mentioned, the L brackets used to attach the frame do not make it easy to line up and it would be much easier with two people. Just an annoyance. The slats are not of the best quality, and some were a little warped and longer than others. It took a decent amount of shuffling and wedging to get them in just right.
The biggest thing is the center supports. Just as yet another reviewer pointed out, they don't touch the ground. Not even close. I had to get under there and unscrew them to the point where they're almost falling out for them to graze carpet. I bought some rubber feet to stick under them just so they'd be resting on something. It's like they either measured incorrectly and just went with it, or eyeballed the center legs. Not good, but some rubber feet did the trick.
Overall it's a nice bed, and for the people wondering how to match furniture with this, there are matching nightstands and chests. I do own the nightstand and it matches beautifully. I can't speak to other brands, but I like the matching aesthetic of the set.
