Skyline Furniture Waveland Wingback Bed Upholstered in Velvet Pewter

Skyline Furniture Waveland Wingback King Bed Upholstered in Velvet PewterI do 90% of my shopping on Amazon, I love it. Very rarely do I purchase something with 0 customer reviews, especially a big ticket item such as this. However after reading reviews on other Skyline Furniture products I decided to give this a shot.

I'm 100% pleased with my purchase. The headboard is beautiful, the frame is heavy duty, everything feels like it will last for many years to come. Assembly was painless enough, instructions were sparse but enough for me to get the thing put together.

My only minor quibble: there were 3 bolts missing that were necessary to complete assembly and required a quick trip to the local hardware store. An irritating inconvenience for sure, but not enough for me to take a star off.

I bought this bed a few months ago, giving up a very nice quality frame and headboard from West Elm so my husband could get more of a platform bed, and sleep lower to the ground. I had read good and bad reviews on it, and I'm thankful to say I've had none of the issues some of the bad reviews talked about.

It did take several weeks for shipping, although I believe it did come about a week earlier than the original estimated ship date. Package came in two boxes from UPS, my husband took probably 2 hours putting it together. He did tell me the instructions weren't great and you could tell the holes are drilled to be able to work on any bed frame (ie, if you only bought the headboard, and not the frame as well) so he did have to do some rigging to get it to work. Lucky for me, he's very handy!

Other than putting it together, it's been a great bed! The color is a deep charcoal, true to the picture, and very similar to my West Elm performance velvet couch, so it feels like a very nice quality. The bed is sturdy, my 200 lb+ husband likes to literally FALL into bed at night, so I'm thankful he hasn't fallen through it : ) There is an 18" gap between the bottom of the headboard and the frame where your mattress sits, so we have a shorter boxspring as well as a thick pillowtop mattress on it and they come up almost all the way to hide the hole, with about 1" to spare. Our pillows are always on the bed though, so I never see it and have no issues with it. I do think if you didn't have an extra thick mattress or if the gap was wider, it would look weird.

Overall I love this bed! Although there isn't enough room for me to store anything under it, we love sleeping a bit lower to the ground, surrounded by soft velvet!
