This is in fact a very solid and well made hook, but I could not use it where I had originally intended. The flat part that goes up and over the door is 3 mm or roughly 1/8 inch thick. This makes it very sturdy. Your door hinge would probably break before the hook, which can also be screwed in place in the top of the door. Unfortunately, all this sturdiness means thick metal. You have to consider not only the space above the door, but if the door rests against/near the door frame on the inside top (as mine does) then you need that much tolerance to close the door as well. In locations where doors do not fit tightly or where no one ever shuts them anyway, this is a great hook, but measure before you buy it.

This is a well made hook, that would work perfect over a door. I am using it as an extra towel holder and it looks good and works great.

I originally purchased the towel bars, stacker, TP holder, etc. with only one hook and now came back for two more hooks. Small bath and needed more places for towels and no more space for towel bars. All were good quality and no issues.

I should have measured the door at work to be sure this would fit. It wasn't wide enough, but I was able to use it at home in my bathroom to hang my curling iron on the back of the door to cool. It is really nice and heavy, but just not wide enough to accommodate my office door.
