Clifton Park Iron Bed

The bed is sturdy and stylish, but the headboard is too short for a boxspring and a mattress. I will have to sell my brand new boxspring and use 3/4 inch plywood instead :( -If I use the boxspring, I will not be able to enjoy the beauty of the headboard! Uuuuuugh!

We chose this bed because it looked beautiful in the picture, and other reviews mentioned that it was surprisingly sturdy.

I disagree with the sturdiness, the scrollwork is metal ribbon that flexes in and out quite a bit. While the frame underneath has interior legs for added support beneath, I can feel the headboard bow when I lean my back against it for reading.

To echo another review, this bed frame is clearly intended to be used without a box spring. The footboard is very low, which works well for us watching tv (which is in the direction of the foot of our bed), but if our mattress was thicker or we had a box spring it would cover most or all of the pretty design, and that design is the main thing going for the bed.

Another caveat is that our headboard came with legs bent inward a bit. This made it impossible to attach the frame. We found our dealings with the merchant to be frustrating and unsatisfactory, and I was tempted to file an "A to Z garantee" claim with Amazon to force them to make it right. Luckily, we were able to straighten out the legs with muscle power (leg strength, not even possible with just arms), and are now enjoying the bed.

The photographs really don't do justice for this bed. It is gorgeous and the conversation piece of my bedroom. The wrought iron frame is VERY sturdy, and the bed was not difficult to assemble. I did it by myself (a 2nd person would have made it even easier). I am very happy with this purchase. I bought the matching bench also. A great buy.

This is a sturdy bed. Set-up was easy. It does not move when set-up. And the base framing is solid and very supportive of our mattress set. However, I was very disappointed with the look. The wrought iron decorative headboard and base board are thin and flimsy, and both bend easily, which is not what you would expect from wrought iron. All I can say is that It is a descent piece for the price. But it's not a piece that I would consider the focal point of my bedroom, which a bed should be.
