Wide Width Grommet Top Thermal Blackout Curtain 100"W X 84"L Panel - BWW - GT

Wide Width Grommet Top Thermal Blackout Curtain 100'W X 84'L Panel - Navy - BWWI bought this "Wide Width Grommet Top Thermal Blackout Curtain 100"W X 84"L Panel Chocolate BWW" to both block out the morning sun shining into a room and cut down on the heat caused by that sunshine (I'm in Florida, so the heat is a problem). This is a good quality curtain that looks almost exactly like the picture here on Amazon. I put the curtain up yesterday afternoon and was quite pleased with it. By noon today, however, I realized it wasn't performing properly. A minor issue is that even though the fabric is thick, it doesn't block out all the light that's directly shining on it. That's tolerable. However, the big problem is that this curtain is brown on BOTH sides. So, as the sun beats on the curtain, it absorbs almost all of that light energy and radiates it directly into the room as heat from the other side. The room now gets far hotter than it did with my old, regular, white-backed, curtains. If you live in a cooler climate or if you're not faced with direct sunlight, this curtain is probably a good bet for you (call it 4 stars out of 5). But, for me, I'll have to rate it at a pretty bad 2 stars out of 5 and see if Amazon will let me return them.

For those not familiar with curtain measurements, I'll add something about how this curtain fit my window. The window in question measures about 79" W (outside edge of molding to outside edge of molding) by 85" H (top of curtain rod to floor). I figured that this one, single panel would be good enough since I hardly ever opened the old curtains. I was right. But, just barely. The height's not bad at all. But, you should be aware that the curtain extends about an inch above the grommet holes. So, that shortens the effective length just a bit. The bigger issue for me was that my curtain rod is about an inch in diameter. The 1.6" diameter grommets fit on the rod without problem, but they have to sit on the rod at an angle (weaving around the rod). With the wide rod, the grommets don't have much (any) play. The curtain fits the width. But, again, just barely. With a thin rod, the curtains would probably be adequate for another inch or two in width since they could lie flatter. But, in general, I'd consider my 79" W x 85" H window area to be the absolute maximum size that this panel will cover. It's not a problem. Just be aware of it.

I've looked all over for true blackout curtains in a light color, and have tried a half dozen from local retailers. Either they're not really blackout, or have so many layers they're poofy and unattractive. Imagine my surprise when these arrived! They're a single panel of fabric, and truly, truly blackout, even in beige. They're beautiful. I have them to cover sliding glass doors in my recently remodeled contemporary home, and they go beautifully. The grommet top means they hang perfectly always, and the thickness of the fabric means they stack compactly. I then got a chuckle when I looked at the price again. The local curtain shop offered to make me something (but with 2 layers since all they could do was add a blackout lining to curtain fabric) for over 10x the price! These are a keeper.

Very disappointed in the quality of these curtains. After I hung the curtains I noticed that there were a total of about a dozen dark brown spots on the 4 beige curtain panels. What makes the matter worse is that the return policy does not permit the customer to return the product once the container has been opened. Unfortunately you cannot detect the spots from the closed container. AMAZON should bar all vendors from its site that maintain such a restrictive and consumer hostile return policy.

I like it because it is easy to close. It is definetely blackout and it does seem to help with the cold of the winter and it should help with the heat of the summer. It is on my sliding door to my back yard and i have dogs going in and out all day. It has really helped with ease of use and keeping the cold and heat out. Have not washed it yet so not sure how that is but i really like it so far.

I LOVE these curtains! I obtained swatches from other companies, they were all either too thin, too coarse, too plain, too foo-foo, or just plain unsightly. When I received these curtains, I was thrilled with the fabric. It is gorgeous, and they hang so nicely. The beige shows some light coming through, but it is to be expected with any light color, and they still look real nice. The burgundy really makes it dark in the room, and is a very rich pretty color.

Customer service was amazing--quickly responsive, nice, and reassuring. Contrary to what a different reviewer stated, this company does accept returns that have been opened (as long as they are in the same new condition). They understand that you need to hang them in the room to see if they work with the look and colors of your room.
