Prepac Sonoma Maple Queen Platform Storage Bed (6-drawers)

We were very pleased with this platform bed. The drawers fit exactly right with no wobbling. The whole thing is sturdy and very well manufactured.

This is the first product review I've written but this bed is so exceptional that it needed to be done. First, the product was extremely well packaged with unambiguous assembly instructions. I assembled it myself without difficulty. However, despite being adept at such things (but being 56,) it did take me 7-8 hours to get it together. Two people working simultaneously could just about halve that figure if one works on assembling the drawers while the other works on the bed proper. Everything was accurately pre-drilled making assembly easy. I also included the extra assembly features recommended by Mathew C Ziegler in his review of Prepac Manhattan Queen Platform Storage Bed, Espresso which is a clone with a different finish. I'm not sure the corner braces help much but the felt tape does a great job and I think it's worthwhile screwing down the slats too! The product is heavy and would be difficult to move far once assemled so I strongly recommend assembling it in place. Once together it's rock solid! My only assembly glitch was two of the drawer sides began to split as I tightened their connectors. I went online to Prepac requesting replacements (though the originals were still useable) and they promptly had them shipped to me. The only material aspect I found "cheap" were the drawer bottoms which aren't wood and don't look/feel as if they'd support a lot of weight (such as a load of books.) That said, I've filled drawers with clothing and they're up to that task just fine. Bottom line a well made "value" product that Prepac can rightly be proud of!

The drawers are big and deep and I was able to pack many out-of-season clothes into them. It is great to have extra storage and save some space!

It takes some time to put together but the directions are easy to follow.

Very easy to put together (keep in mind I am not a pro by any means), sturdy, easy to take apart (I know this because I put it together upside down) easy to put back together!

I really like this bed. unfortunately, the color is not exactly as it appears on screen. I was opting for a light milky wood color, but this bed in particular's true color is honey. be advised, customer service might take a day or two to get back at you, and packages sent might be a day or two apart as well. So i do not recomend to start building unless you have all THREE boxes and have everything ready to begin. the bed did come in a timely manner though, the buying and shipping process is amazon smooth.

I returned this bed and i cant stress enough how simple and easy and agravation free the return process was. amazon sent a prepaid label with ups to my door the next day to pick up the bed boxes and done.

In turn i purchased the expresso colored bed (same model, just different color) and assembled it.I have throughluy enjoyed my two nights squeek free with it thus far.

since i purchased the expresso color, i will leave a more detailed comment on the expresso colored bed page.

simply put, this bed is a winner, here are some quick pros and cons:

pros: does not squeak (no need for my old squeeky boxspring), easy to assemble (just takes time, took me 7 hours total), well crafted/engineered, solid, attractive.

cons: heavy, flexes if not properly reinforces on the corners, hard to move unless you are crafty with sliders underneath. thats it though, there are no other complaints from me.

common complaints are that the drawers are not built for holding heavy objects, i fixed this with wood screws, so its not an issue for me. i also took advise from another reviewer and reinforced the corners with brackets.

preferences: it is in the low range in height, but not an uncomfortable low. i like its height.
