Surya Continental Hand Woven Rug

When this arrived I was startled to find that each knobbly "bump" on the surface of the rug is about 1/2" in size. So in the small 2'x3' size rug this makes the bumps pretty large compared to the overall size of the rug. It does, however, give the rug a nice cushiony feel when you walk on it.

The rug is not flat-woven. It is comprised of large loops ranging in size from one half to three-quarters of in inch in height. The yarn is a chunky mix of wide and narrow threads--meaning that the rug has quite a lot of texture. If they provided zooming on the picture you could more easily see the raised, uneven threads.

I had intended to use the rug under my dining room table; however, it would be impossible to sweep crumbs off of it after dinner.

This rug would be nice anywhere there are people without high heels to get caught in the loops, cats to use it as a scratching post, food to drop on it...
