Tvilum Tucson 6-Drawer

Tvilum Tucson 6-Drawer, CoffeeThis dresser is gorgeous. Normally, I'm not fond of a "wood" look I absolutely despise that honey oak colour that seems to be everywhere, and I tend to go for espresso whenever possible but this is a beautiful, rich, warm shade that looks amazing in my bedroom. I've never seen this colour on affordable, assemble-yourself furniture before. The picture is extremely accurate; what you see is what the dresser looks like assembled. Beautiful. I'm so glad I chanced it and chose this.

The design is simple, extremely modern, and it would probably go with just about anything. I have the matching nightstands, which I also love. All of these pieces have a reasonably small footprint but a surprising amount of storage. The dresser is not nearly as deep as my old one (check the measurements), but I find that the drawers are exactly the size I want them to be. They hold a lot of clothing; the shallower depth is actually a plus, IMO, as I don't end up with clothes shoved way into the back that are forgotten or cause the drawers not to open. I prefer my additional drawer space to be in the width, rather than the depth, which is the case with this dresser. The height of the drawers is excellent as well you don't realize until it's all together just how much space you have.

The build quality is excellent. This thing can actually hold significant weight on its surface (which seems to be kind of rare when it comes to inexpensive furniture); the reason is that it's got support a-plenty, and the pieces themselves are of a heavier, stronger quality than other furniture I've assembled. Also, these drawers are AMAZING they glide like a dream! I've seen many dressers in this price range with plastic drawer slides, while these are metal. They move so smoothly... and there are nice little bumpers included (the same is true with the nightstands), so your drawers will not slam or mar the surface. All the little touches that you would want are there, and they add to the overall value and satisfaction levels.

Now, to be honest, this was kind of a pain to put together. If you get this and the nightstands, I would recommend doing the nightstands first, as the process is very similar with the dresser especially the drawers. Everything goes together smoothly and easily until you get to the actual frame of the dresser itself, which is much more difficult mainly because this is such a large piece of furniture, and it's awkward to work with. The packaging and various pieces take up a lot of space, so I ended up being very short on maneuvering room; you definitely want to have two people otherwise, putting it together will be extremely difficult, if not impossible. I'm not sure if this is an isolated thing or not, but I ended up with one piece being slightly too long, and actually had to sand a tiny fraction of an inch off of it (it was a bit that didn't show, as it goes up against another piece). Not a big deal to me, but it's something to keep in mind; not sure if it was just my fault, or if the piece was a little too long to begin with, but nothing else seemed to be askew, and there was no gap elsewhere which makes me think it was just the piece. Easily dealt with, at any rate, and it doesn't diminish my satisfaction with the item. Considering how difficult some of the other furniture I've put together has been, I was expecting a dresser to be much more difficult than it was.

The directions are great very easy to follow and this furniture is all marked as being made in Denmark, which is something different from the usual. If you're looking for a clean, modern styled dresser and have someone to help you put it together, this is definitely a fantastic choice.

Putting this piece together is worse than an Ikea piece of furniture. The quality is about the same. It looks fine once its together, but i know for certain it won't last long. Only reason i say its not terrible is because once its together it looks like a nice, contemporary, dresser, but next time around I will definitely spend the extra money for better quality and less assembly.

Modern design, I have to say it's well worth the money.

I am very picky about furniture and this dresser did not disappoint me. Very Similar to Ikea style. It took me and my husband 5 hours to put it together.

Pros:

1. looks good and modern.

2. Sturdy. I put a 40 inch TV on top of it and so far it holds well.

3. Narrow. I live in a small condo in Boston. There really isnt too much space left after fitting in a king bed. This dresser is the perfect size I'm looking for.

Cons:

1. The gray strips on top of the drawer is not metal.

2. The white color you see from outside is actually a layer of some kind plastic paper stuck to the board. But as long as you dont peel it, it will stay just fine.

3. The assembly is not too difficult but takes time. There is a step that requires you to stick angled nails into the bottom of the drawer. I dont see the point of doing this and its very difficult to do, so I just skipped it.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase especially at this price.

Ordered this product not realizing it would come in 100 pieces. It takes about 2 hours to put together. The material is not real wood and is very cheap. The item came in two boxes, poorly wrapped. When the boxes arrived, they were dented and opened at the corners. Several of the large pieces came scratched or dented. If it wasn't such a big item, I would have sent it back. The size is good for a really small bedroom. It looks nice online, but the quality is just poor. Good thing I didn't order the nightstands as well.
