Fatboy The Original Bean Bag

Fatboy the Original, Dark GreyI got the Fatboy for my office to relax for a quick after lunch nap or to be comfortable when reading a book or paper. Generally, I am very pleased with my purchase, the look is great, to color (dark grey), too; seems to be robust and durable, no complaints at all. Shipping/delivery was smooth, too. Came in a big cardboard box for protection and was (obviously) very light weight and easy to transport.

From the preview pictures, I did get the impression though, that the bag is bigger and filled with more 'beans', so you can actually sit at the same height like a regular office chair or at least a sofa. But is fairly low to the ground, which would be perfect, for a cosy home with carpet floor, and maybe more lounging and playing a video game or watching a movie.

So, my recommendation to you, make sure you get the right size, and if in doubt, go with the bigger one, I don't think the price is much higher.

I first encountered the Fatboy beanbag chair at work. I was hired on and shown the office I'd be sharing with a fellow code monkey (or "Software Engineer" for you normal people). And there it was, just sitting in the corner. My first thought was "A beanbag chair, seriously?" because we've all been there. They're fun to sit in, until one day they just explode on you. But fellow Amazon shopper, I tell you the Fatboy will not disappoint! It was only a matter of weeks before I had to have one at home.

The sittability factor is great. This thing can be anything from a mini-mattress to an office chair. Whether you're sitting, lounging, napping...this thing has you covered. I'm also impressed by its durability. As it's in an office it sees some pretty heavy usage, and it's still by all appearances just like new. Even a heavy-set man can wander over and flop down on it without secretly fearing that it'll explode. These things really were built to last.

Now, it is still a beanbag chair, and a rather large one at that. They can occasionally be difficult to climb back out of. Also, moving it from room to room might be something of a challenge due to its size and malleability, but I think they found a great balance. And honestly, if that's really an issue then you probably don't want a beanbag chair to begin with.

If you're unsure purely because of the price, consider it an investment in a piece of furniture that'll be around for a while. It does cost 2-4 times as much as others you might find, but I assure you that it's 10 times better.

I'm a very critical shopper, and I uncharacteristically took a chance on the Fatboy without researching it exhaustively as I usually do.

I must say that it is one of the best purchases I've made in quite some time! It's seriously awesome: quite comfortable and enormous. I think it will be perfect for having a relaxing and supportive place to lounge around when I study.

Highly recommended.

I got the lime green and wow, it's LIME for sure.

It came with a few stains on it that look like black oil but I couldn't return it because the minute I unpacked it, my 3 yr old jumped all over it and had barely left it since, LOL. The stains do not come off with water, and that is what the cleaning instructions recommend. I plan to try a magic eraser on it soon.

The kid uses it as her "nest," but the few times I use it, I like to turn it on the end and sit on it like a chair. It gets me down to the kids' level in the playroom without having to sit right on the floor. I would love to use it more often for lounging but it drives me a little crazy because the "beans" never really completely stop shifting...even if you lie perfectly still on it, you still hear the crunch of a few beans against each other even just from your breathing.

One reviewer said it's not really a beanbag but, yes, yes it is. With those same polystyrene balls inside that eventually get crushed. It has a super strong plastic-y outside fabric (NOT canvas as another reviwer said) and this thing looks like it will last forever and take lots of jumping. I can't understand why it's so pricey. Would not buy again.

Very few things in life represent pure relaxation--but this is one of them. To me, it's a mini-vacation whenever I can spare a few moments. There is something about sinking into the Fatboy that takes your mind off your troubles and the tension out of your body. It's not a cushion or typical beanbag. Those resist your body to some degree and there is always some sort of pressure or inflexibility. This is more like a Tempur-Pedic mattress where it conforms to you and there is no such thing as a pressure point. It's a floating, suspended feeling like a Tempur-Pedic but more fluid in that it allows you to position yourself in all sorts of ways other than flat. The possibilities are endless. I wasn't always so thrilled about my Fatboy but it has grown on me. It's a great spare seat, ottoman or even a "mattress" for a child sleeping over. My only complaint is that it's not more affordable and that the filling wears down (compresses) and has to be refilled over time.
