As far as the bookcase itself its very contemporary modern in style and looks quite nice in my study. Other than a small nick received from poor packaging (due to the supplier I chose) I was exceedingly happy with my purchase. The price seems to fluctuate wildly, but I was happy at the time to catch it at around $380.00 USD down from the then price of $750.00.The doors slide to cover either the middle or outsides or anywhere in between. Once you get them set and locked in they glide easily. When I first set the unit up they seemed rigid and I noticed that the top wasn't completely in the rail. If you have any issues, make sure to double check both groove sets.
Obviously its not real solid wood, but particle with a covering over it in the cappucino stain. But quite frankly for a bookshelf going in my study to hold all my art/design books I couldn't be happier.
