Now that our baby boy is about to start crawling, we've decided to get rid of our expensive glass coffee table with jagged metal legs. After toying with not having a coffee table, dinner tables/trays, and a couple other ottomans from costco and the like, we found this. In general, it does what we need it to for now: it allows us to eat at the couch when our boy is playing on the ground, put our feet up after chasing him around, has storage for his living room toys and a few of ours, and is much softer than our previous glass/metal coffee table (the corners are still rather hard mind you). However, it falls shorts of all our expectations. For example, it is not as light of a brown as the picture. It's darker than espresso imo, and you only see a tinge of brown when it bright out with the blinds open. The trays on the reverse of the cushions are indeed completely black, but not an issue since the vinyl is such a dark brown (light black?) that it blends right in. Also, there are no solid "walls" on the side other than the vinyl and framing. What I mean is, if you were to kick it hard enough on the side, you would poke through the vinyl as there's nothing behind it. But in the end, we couldn't resist the price and when you consider that this will probably see some toddler abuse, we won't be too upset when it's time to replace it.
I bought this to replace our beveled glass coffee table since our daughter is becoming mobile, and it doubles as a toy box. I had read a previous review, so I knew the sides were not solid wood or anything, but it is much more solid than I had anticipated. The inside is lined with black fabric. One drawback: this thing SMELLS!!!! I had to air it out in the garage for a couple of days because it was giving me a headache, and now there is still a faint, but tolerable, odor (like varnish). We've only had it for a week or so, so I am hoping the smell goes away over time.
This thing came in a big box and just needed the feet screwed on. There were a few indentations in the "leather" that have disappeared since delivery. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this piece and we've received a number of compliments. I would suggest buying this, but plan to air it out for a few days before putting it in your home...

We're are happy with this ottman. It provides ample storage and the flip over trays are very practical for that cup of coffee or snack. The material feels and looks like leather and it can be easily matched with any sofa. I would give it 5 stars, only if the strong chemical smell is absent. I don't know what they use, but it takes about 3 weeks to completely air it out. For the price, it's very affordable and will add style to your living room.This is a great alternative for those in a small apartment that have little need for a coffee table. It is long and quite comfortable, but allows space for drinks/remotes/etc. Highly recommended!!Also, originally ordered this from target.com. What an absolute nightmare when a month later they still did not have it in stock, yet misrepresented that on their website. Amazon was quick and it shipped the same day. Thank god for this place!

This product is what you would expect for the price. The sides are very thin without padding. I definitely would be careful not to accidentally bump or walk into it. I already saw some dents when I took it out of the box. There was also a cut in the inner lining. There were some scratches and cracks on the tray tops. I did not want to go through the hassle of returning it though. The height is a little higher than I'd like so I do use it for storing things on but not really for eating on. The biggest surprise was the delivery. It was only a couple days from order to arrival.Save 41% Off
