I decided to purchase these curtains over some others based on the price. I'm poor and therefor cheap, so spending 80.00 or more on curtains for one sliding door was out of the question. At the $40.00 close-out price, these curtains were the right price and the existing reviews suggested they would be well worth it. The door I needed covered is a sliding glass door in my bedroom. Our bedroom is large and as far from the furnace as you can get in this house, so as a result it is always cold in the winter, hot in the summer. In addition we have new neighbors with dogs that bark 24/7 and those dogs are about 20-30 feet from this window.

The curtains arrived this morning and my daughter helped me put them up. My kids noticed right away that the sounds from the neighbors dogs and playing children were muffled and seemed to be cut in half. The air temperature between the curtain and window is much lower than that of the room which tells me the curtains are keeping the cold air out of my bedroom which is exactly what I was looking for. Now that the sun has set I have not had to bundle up in a sweater to be comfortable in my bedroom, and that alone is worth the $40.00 spent.

The color is very true to that shown here online, and it is a rich, even color. I am quite pleased with it. I actually wanted the chocolate brown color, but that set was not at the close-out price.

The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that these curtains are called "black out" but they are not. They do significantly lower the light coming in through the windows, but they are not "black out" curtains. If you are looking to sleep during the day and you need a very dark room, these may not be quite dark enough for you. It's not a problem for me as the curatins I had up before hardly blocked any light at all.

I purchased these to block the morning light and help regulate temperature losses through a large sliding door; for they're perfect. What I didn't realize was how effective they'd be at eliminating noise from outside. I couldn't figure out why it was so quiet in my Master Bedroom, until I realized these drapery panels actually eliminated the background noise coming from traffic on the freeway 1/4 mile away. They're beautiful, functional and a tremendous value.

The curtains are pretty, practical, and do keep out light and keep in warmth. I love the chocolate color. They look much more expensive than they were.
