Dream On Me Classic Toddler Bed

This is a nice looking bed. However the crossbars that support the mattress are quite flimsy. As soon as I put it together, my 2-year-old jumped on it, and one of them split in half.

The word SOLID cannot be associated with Dream On Me. I purchase this toddler bed from Baby's R uS and hated it from day one. I tried to like but as I was putting it together it just felt flimsy and later I would find out how dangerous it would become. I almost cracked a rib kissing my little one good night on his first night transitioning from the crib to this bed as the footboard snapped off and the remaining jagged edge meeting my rib cage. A very traumatizing event for my sons first night on his new bed. Till this day, he keeps reminding us of "daddy's booboo" because after many tries to get the foot board replaced, the pieces just don't align at all. Thus we still have that jagged edge (TRUE STORY). UPDATE: 8 months later the side rail has cracked. Going to try the P'kolino Toddler Bed which it states can support up to 300LBS but even if it doesn't it has really great review on AMAZON with regards to its SOLIDNESS.

UPDATE 01.30.2012:

My son is now almost 5 year old and his P'kolino Toddler Bed and Chair, White is still SOLID as a rock. Within this time we had another boy and when it was time to purchase his new big boy bed, he's 3 years old now, we went back to the folks that get it right the first time and purchased another P'kolino Toddler Bed and Chair, White. Also, for you moms and dads that what to lay down with your babies when they are having a rough night, you can feel confident and safe knowing that this bed will hold you up. I took a picture that I'll have to post of me @275 LBS, my oldest son @52 LBS and my youngest @41 LBS all laying/sitting on the P'kolino Toddler Bed and Chair, White. Try that on Dream On Me, etc.

Ordered product when out of stock, received it within the same week of placing the order. AWESOME! My son loves the bed completely. It's super cute and sits low to the groundwhich I wanted so if he falls out that it wouldn't be a big fall. Putting the bed together was fairly easily, I do recommend having two people, as the mattress boards in between the frame need to fit into the pre-drilled holes and it's helpful to have someone hold them in place while bed is being placed together.

Positives/Negatives:

-Came w/dents in frame in areas not linked w/damage in transit

-Easy for child to get in and out of

-Built on frame guards should be a little taller

-Fairly easy to put together, recommend extra helping hand though

-Good price (in my opinion, I only paid 19.95 total w/coupon)

-Overall quality good

-Mattress boards weren't painted to match bed

-Mattress boards had some cracks

-Cherry finish not unified in some areas of the bed, but I liked it

I purposely waited awhile before writing this review, because I wanted to see how well this bed held up over time. We've had it for 10 months now, and we're VERY happy with it. My husband tightened the hardware on the bed tonight with an allen wrench for the first time since we bought it. (The arms were coming a little loose, I think from me making the bed every day, and it only took him a couple of minutes.) The bed has taken a beating with my four-year-old jumping on it almost every night. Even with the arms needing to be tightened, I would still call this bed very sturdy. We bought it in black, which I think was pretty smart. If/when the paint chips, I'll probably just use a sharpie to fix it. For the price, I couldn't be happier with it.

I read all the reviews for this product and didn't know what to expect. I was a little apprehensive because all the reviews for this product said it was difficult to put together. Well, it wasn't. My boyfriend's dad put it together without any hassles, and my son LOVES it. He was jumping up and down on it all night before I put him to sleep. For all the people who said assembly was hard, you probably weren't reading the instructions. And for those of you who say it fell apart on you, you probably didn't put it together correctly and due to your ineptitude decided it was the manufacturer's fault. So anyway, this bed is great and affordable, I give a 5-star rating.
