Uttermost 21108 Alita Champagne Drum Pendant

The picture is amazing. My son fell in love with the metal. I thought it was really cool too. Once installed, it lost all appeal to me. Uttermost did it in the design--purely aesthetics. The metal is awesome. The inside of the shade is a beautiful off-white canvas linen. They ruined it by placing, what looks to be a gross pair of suntan colored pantyhose over the outside of the shade. Why Uttermost why? So when the lights go on, it looks like pantyhose stretched across a once-gorgeous linen shade. Ew. To top it off, literally, the diffuser is PLASTIC--not glass. COME ON UTTERMOST!!! We have purchased two light fixtures in the last few months. Both had glass diffusers and did not cost as much--almost. So now my son has a giant pair of suntan pantyhose over a cheap plastic plate hanging from his ceiling. I'm crushed and not sure I can persuade him to return it. My husband said, "No leading the witness." But it's SO ugly now that it is up. Exciting in pictures and in the box, but once it's up, it's a major disappointment. Can you imagine ordering from any other place than Amazon? No one else would let you return it. I will never buy light fixtures from any company other than Amazon. Just to note, Uttermost customer service was great! Called them about the silver support wire that hangs next to the black rope cord (not shown in the picture). Due to the weight of the fixture, by code, they have to include it. We placed the fixture almost flush to the ceiling so you cannot see it. Otherwise, you have to find some way to hide the support wire. I love love love Uttermost, but this light fixture, not so much.

UPDATE: My son still adores this fixture and so does everyone who sees it. It is gorgeous and if you read comments, someone gave a suggestion of replacing the light bulb to make it look less like pantyhose. So I'm changing my previous one star to 4. Still would like a glass diffuser.

i bought slightly used. but once it came it was nicely packaged and you could not tell at all that it was used!! I've ordered 2 items now i amazon slightly used and both seem new! it was great they i paid half the price as new!! i will definitely look into buying slight used goods for now on. i love how the light comes through and in the day with the sun hitting the gold bars it shines and looks gorgeous.

Be aware that the metal finish may be made of silver but it the finish color is gold, no look of silver at all. I think the photo is a bit decieving because the light shining on it makes it look like a silver finish but it's not. I agree with the comments about the metal support wire that accompanies the cord, its awkward but once it was hung I didn't really notice it. I didn't want a gold metal shade but I have to say that once it was up it was so beatiful that I didn't care that it didn't match my appliances.
