Sound Asleep Room-Darkening Backtab Window Panel

I'm not sure what the previous people were looking for.... but they were not looking for room-darkening curtains. I thought these were great! Against my judgement of seeing these reviews, I gave them a shot and I'm glad I did.

They smelled a bit right out of the box mostly like rubber or maybe their ThermaBack Coating, and they were wrinkled (from being in the bag!). So I simply threw them in the washer and dryer and out they came perfectly un-wrinkled, and un-stinky. I was thinking I would have to sit and iron them. Much easier to wash them!

They're perfect for my son's room. They're a textured Chenille... meaning they sort of look and feel like corduroy. They're not flimsy at all and absolutely darken the room.

I got the Chocolate brown, which is... chocolate brown. And the back of the panel is more of an ivory color which doesn't bother me one bit. I'm glad that when I add the panels to my other rooms, they will all match from the outside.

After searching high and low, I found these great curtains which do block out the light. Now, they are not 100% as some light does get through, but it makes a big difference. I had purchased the ivory which is a very rich cream and did not care for it. I love the mushroom colorbordering on gray-brown with a bit of a sheen. The curtains were wrinkled and I washed and dried but did still have to iron and they are not perfect, but that is okay. They do have a weird smell that I noticed once the sun came outit is a chemical smell that seems to be related to the plastic backing that makes these blackout. That does bug me so I hope it goes away. Otherwise, very pleased. The material is a chenille that looks quite nice.

The pictures shown are as deceiving as people say. They're darker, more drab and rather boring. Also, they are NOT the same exact model as the ones sold at Bed Bath and Beyond, which explains the reduced pricing. The mushroom color I saw at BB&B are more of a shiny pewter while the mushroom I got here are just a dull grey.

That being said, they do a great job of blocking out excess light at night. We live in an apartment and our landlord had installed glaringly bright lights, one by the pool and one right outside our window. Even at night, it gets as bright as day, so it was hard for me to get a restful sleep. It's bad enough that I have UARS but trying to sleep in a brightly lit bedroom made my days extremely tiring.

Once the curtains are closed, the room is pitch dark and it takes a good while for my eyes to adjust. I wake up feeling more refreshed and well-rested. As much as I wish the colors were more appealing, I can't complain about the price and how well the curtains do their job.

These drapes are amazing. The fulfill every promise of blocking out light and noise. We live next to a busy street that also gets direct sunlight. Since hanging these drapes, the noise was been greatly reduced and the sunlight is non-existant. It has helped to actually lower the temperature of our house during peak sunlight hours. These drapes come in many sizes. I would recommend them to everyone!
