I found this bed in a search for "platform bed," and though the photo makes it difficult to tell, you WILL need a box spring for it. It comes with three 1X2" pine supports that screw into wooden rails. A roughly 4" box spring raises the mattress to the level shown on the picture shown. Other than that, the bed is attractive and sturdy enough. I bought the full size.
I loved the pictures, but the actual product surpasses that! Excellent construction and ease of assembly make this an excellent purchase. I'd recommend this to anyone!

I have had this bed for about 6 months now. I love the look of it, but have had several issues with the wooden supports that hold up the box springs and mattress. The supports are made of a very light wood and several have broken. I have had to resort to going to the hardware store to replace them all. The design is flawed which is such a shame for such a pretty frame. Before I replaced all of the supports, I would be scared to sit on the bed for fear that something would shift again. I also have two dogs who like to hang out under the bed and was nervous they would get hurt. Maybe I just got a bad batch of supports, but it has been troublesome enough I wanted to make others aware. If I were to do this all over again, I wouldn't purchase this set. I had packaging issues with all of the items (bed/dresser/nightstand) and now the issue with the supports.

I am so in "Love" with my 2 Emerson Beds that I do not want any guest in my guest room. They are the Best beds I have purchased since buying my Sleep Number Bed. What A Buy! I will give them a 10-Star Rating!
