Hillsdale 1329BFR Hawthorn Bed Set, Full, Black Leather

Have wanted a black leather platform bed for a good while now and finally purchased this particular one (Queen Sized and ordered via Amazon.com), after scouting around the internet looking at similar designed beds, for about a year.

Although assembly was a bit tricky when it came to the headboard and main-frame, and although I had to wait an extra day to receive the final piece(s)(slats) when completed assembly, was and still remain very pleased about this bed!

The leather is of a soft, richer-feel quality, and the stitching is very well-made and seems to be very durable.

Have gotten many compliments about this bed ever since completion of assembly, and although I had to muddle through some of the problems stated, would definitely have no problem to recommend this bed!

I purchased the King size Hillsdale 1329BKR Hawthorn Bed.Pros-Looks Great,Clean Lines,Back board is at the right height 42".Cons-Doesn't really look solid and sturdy when doing the assembly and is over priced.The over all dimensions on this bed frame assembled 42"H x 90"D x 82"L.The frame and pieces are shipped in 3 boxes.Make sure all three boxes have a matching PO# if not you will experience the problem I had with calling the factory direct and trying to get the correct pieces to assemble the frame correctly.The company explained that the support braces have been changed in design.I had to print my instuctions from the internet cause it did not come in any of the three boxes.Customer service was helpful and professional in helping me get the correct parts for my frame.Overall I would recommend buying this frame but at a $600.00 or less price point.

After sleeping on the same cheap box spring and mattress for over 12 years my wife and I finally decided to upgrade to the latest and greatest in sleep comfort. We set a few ground rules that the new bed had to satisfy: solid, sturdy structure, absolutely no noise (no squeaks or pops under any circumstances), no box spring, modern looks. This bed fits the bill on all accounts and for much less than any we've seen at the local B&M stores. Frankly, we had not found one for any amount that offered all of these things combined. We were apprehensive about such a large purchase on-line should something go wrong and we'd have to return the product but everything worked out well in this case.

Pros: This bed was easy to assemble, took about two hours, and is rock solid. Does not move, bend or budge at all. So, unless one was morbidly obese I don't see how structurally there could be issues (I'm not a small person at 6' and 195 lbs). I cannot speak to how much noise it would make in factory configuration because right away I installed rubber grommets and pads (depending on which fit better) between any two contacting hard surface. With this dampening in place and all fasteners thoroughly tightened, this thing never makes a sound. I did not know it was possible to get out of bed without waking up my wife until we got this bed! On our old bed I couldn't so much as turn sideways without disturbing her sleep. Honestly as well as the components fit together I don't think noise would be an issue even without the added measures, but I wanted to be sure.

As far as looks goes that is of course subjective. We happen to love the modern style. The leather is very nice with quality stitching. When assembled, the bed frame only has padded surfaces so there is less chance for injury. The platform supports our 10" memory foam mattress very well.

Cons: honestly can't think of any right now. I suppose the risk of damage in transit or the occasional missing part could be considered a drawback but that goes for any on-line purchase. Ours arrived complete with no damage.

There is a MAJOR reason this is on sale. It has the wrong hardware. Almost everyone that reviewed on other sites said it has the wrong hardware. It is a beautiful looking bed; however the center support beam/holes don't even match up with the cross beams on the headboard and footboard. It was also missing the longest bolt we need. The frame isn't ready (need to go buy missing parts) and the mattress is coming tomorrow.

It's not the WORST thing to attempt to assemble (if all the parts were there). It's just really not worth the money. I think that if you are entertained by building a separate platform base inside the frame, it would be exactly what you want.

Cymax isn't helpful at all (I know it's hard to be helpful from India) and I would never purchase anything large from them again. I'm keeping this and probably hiring a carpenter to build a proper platform. I know this is not going to support the weight of two intimate people.

Also, I received this TWO WHOLE WEEKS AFTER It was supposed to arrive. I am NOT happy with the whole situation.
