I just put this stand together a few hours ago and thought I would leave a review. Most of the 60" stands I looked at started around $250 to $300 and went up from there. I was hesitant to make this purchase but for $160 I couldn't say no. After putting the stand together I am so glad I saved so much money. The stand took about 2 hours to put together. I'm not an expert but I've put together dressers, TV stands in the past. There are a lot of small parts to add to the wood but if you've ever been down this road before it is nothing new. After being put together the stand is rock solid. I am 185 pounds and sat on it without any problems. It looks very pleasing and I had a hard time finding anything negative to write about. There are tiny chips off the edges but most of them are covered up anyway, and thats about it. It looks very good in my living room. Now I can't wait to get my new plasma on top of it. The drawers are very wide and will help keep the area very organized.
For the price this stand is 5 stars. Very sturdy and looks very trendy. I could not have been more pleased and I'm glad I didn't plop down double the cash when I am completely satisfied. If you want to spend as little as possible and still have high quality this is the way to go.We just received this TV stand and it looks great! The assembly wasn't too bad and we found the instructions fairly easy to follow. The one place this stand falls really short is the size of the drawers. The aren't quite tall enough to store DVD cases with the spines facing up (so you could read all the titles). Instead you have to stack them on top of one another and then basically take them all out to find the movie you want. 1/4 inch would have made a world of difference on this TV stand!
** Two of the drawer slides were damaged when we received the package so we had to contact the company for replacements. South Shore customer service was amazing! Friendly service and we received our replacement parts VERY promptly! I would highly recommend South Shore for that reason!

This TV stand is a good size and holds the weight of my 55" TV, which is hard to find for something in this price range. It was a little bit difficult to put together, but not too bad. The directions are not the easiest thing to follow or maybe it was because there were a lot of parts, but anyway, it only took me about 2 hours to put it together. I wanted something with compartments for storage, but also with an open space for the cable box. This was perfect!Read Best Reviews of South Shore Furniture City Life Collection TV Stand Here
I've had this stand for almost a year with a 50" Panasonic plasma on it, and I love it. I did not find it difficult to put together, and I normally do not have very good luck figuring out how to assemble furniture (usually involves lots of cussing and a few tools thrown about...). I can't remember for sure how long it took me to assemble, but I'm estimating 2-3 hours. The appearance of this stand is very professional, and I like the wood shelves rather than glass that many others have. I also do not like glass doors like many other TV stands have, they always seem to get out of balance and never look as good after I've had them for a while, but that's just my personal opinion. The two drawers are smooth and have ample space in them (one has a large 500+ soft-sided DVD case that I keep all my movies in and still has room for extra cables and miscellaneous stuff). The open storage spaces hold a small center channel speaker, Sony DVD/Surround Sound combo unit, a DISH Network HD DVR with an external HD attached, and a small picture frame, and it does not appear to be cluttered in my opinion. Also with the 50" TV, there is still room for two rather thin, tall speakers to stand next to it, although I prefer the speakers on the floor next to the stand instead.I am amazed at the quality appearance of this stand and would have expected to pay $300+ for it. I have also moved this stand once (about a 30 mile move), and it was very simple to load up into my truck and transport without being damaged or awkward in any way. I am now looking to buy a second plasma TV in the next month or so and I'm leaning towards a 65", which would be just slightly too big for this stand in my opinion, otherwise I think I'd buy the same stand again. The stand itself is 60" wide, so I think it would still look good with up to a 60" flat screen TV, although a 65" would hang over just about an inch on either side, and I'm not comfortable with that.

You all sold me on the value and quality of this stand and you were absolutely right. Shipped quickly and arrived with no damage. Heavy package but I was able to slide it into the house and down the stairs. I actually had fun putting it together last night and no problem doing it alone. I thought the step by step instructions were pretty clear and every piece went together easily. It's very handsome--elegant long horizontal lines, plus the "columns" and the curved pieces on the sides give it interest. It would blend into almost any decor. At this price, the product is an absolute steal. Go for it!
