Baxton Studio Ernesta Queen Size Upholstered Bed

I was a little hesitant to purchase this bed, because I had never seen it in person. There were also no reviews, and the description is very sparse. The following are just a few details you should consider before ordering.

Be prepared to use some elbow grease and deductive reasoning. Instructions are very limited to pictures, and you will need a power drill. There are no prepared holes as with many bed kits, so you will actually need to drill the screws directly into the wood however, these areas are marked clearly with red dots. Also, connecting the sides to the headboard and footboard can be tricky if you are not familiar with light carpentry.

The description says the upholstery is a "margo natural fabric." I had never heard of this; and if you google it, you will just find other webpages for this bed. I imagined it to be a tweed/twill type of rough/raw fabric, which I like on furniture. I was a bit disappointed to find that the material is more like a textured micro-suede, which is a type of material I do not like at all. The color is also described as a grey on other sites, and the pictures here seem to switch between a grey and dark khaki color. I can tell you, the bed has no grey tint, and is a khaki type of color; however, the color is still very pleasing.

Although the bed wasn't exactly what I expected and took more work to put together than I anticipated, I still give it 5-stars. I'm very glad I made this purchase, but I wish a better description/reviews had been available ahead of time. The bed is comprised of very sturdy materials. This is NOT a cheap IKEA-ish type of bed. Very, very good quality of materials. The bed is also very aesthetically pleasing (to the point of stunning) in a room, and does not sit too low to the ground as some platform beds do. And as always, Amazon came through with a price hundreds of dollars lower than other sites and used a freight company that was top-notch in their delivery and professionalism.

wasnt too hard to put together. feels solid when you lay on it. the color and fabric is nice, and it feels sturdy. there are similar beds for a less, but this one is unique in that it has a more minimalist look, because of the footboard and sides. also the headboard isnt as tall as most others, which is good if you want something simpler looking.

Item received was not the exact color as pictured. I would describe it as being more oatmeal/beige in color. I would describe the fabric itself as feeling something like a mix between a very lightweight canvas and a cotton/poly blend. I would recommend Scotch Guard or any type of fabric protector before use. The construction seemed somewhat decent until fully assembled. At that point, it was obvious some of the black interfacing fabric was showing in places it shouldn't have been. Essentially it was exposed on the headboard where the (tan/beige) upholstered fabric should've been (see uploaded photos). Quality Control anyone ? It did not come with any instructions but was somewhat intuitive in terms of connecting the parts. The rectangle shape did not come together at complete right angles, and it was somewhat skewed once all the bolts were tightened. I would not recommend this product based upon the fact that it may be a gamble in terms of quality, especially in the finer details.
