The step stool was easy to put together. It took me just under a half hour to assemble it and then another few minutes to fix the hinges after I realized I had them on upside down! To give you a sense of the difficulty level of assembling this piece, I have posted two photos one of the instructions and hardware, and one of the hinge installation and I will also say a few words about it. All of the parts, including all of the wooden panels and all of the hardware, are clearly labeled, and the instructions refer to the labels so it is pretty straightforward. However, the instructions assume that you know how to use the included camlocks. If your first thought, upon reading my last sentence, is something like, "What the heck is a camlock?" then you may find the instructions lacking. If instead your first thought was something like, "Oh, it sounds like it goes together just like my Ikea bookshelves!", you will have little problem assembling this step stool.
Three assembly tips: 1) Make sure you have a short screwdriver it's easier to tighten the second batch of camlocks inside the partially-assembled step stool that way; 2) attach the hinges and safety hinge to the LID first, not to the body much easier that way; and 3) make sure the hinges aren't upside down. While most of the parts are designed such that it would be impossible to install them backwards or upside down, this isn't the case with the hinges see my photo for more info.
This stool is attractive and substantial enough for its role. It seems very sturdy, and the safety hinge works well to keep it from slamming shut. I like the storage area, and have already stowed all my son's bath toys in it, along with his brush and comb. I also like that this step stool is a bit taller than similar products with this and the Prince Lionheart faucet extender (Prince Lionheart 2 Count Faucet Extender, Gray/Blue), my 31" tall 19-month-old can reach the water to wash his hands and brush his teeth without help. (I just have to turn the water on and off for him.) I will update this review in a couple of months to let you know how it is holding up under daily use by a toddler.

This was more expensive than the alternatives, but I think worth it. Stands straight up against the cabinets and is high enough for my 3 year old to reach the sink handles. She loves it. I use it on vinyl flooring in the bathroom and have not had an issue with slipping, I think because of it's heavy weight. Storage space in the top step is a great bonus we use it for her bath toys.Read Best Reviews of Kings Brand White Finish Wood Bedroom Step Stool With Storage Here
