South Shore Vito Collection Queen 60-Inch Mates Bed

South Shore Vito Collection Queen 60-Inch Mates Bed, ChocolateAlright, first off, let me say that this platform was exactly what I was looking for when I decided to remodel my room. My older bed was cracking at the hinges, squeaking, and making all sorts of noise in addition to being unstable. I had tolerated that for a while, but eventually I decided it was time for me to cave in and do some research on purchasing a new bed.

Note: I use the term "bed" but this platform does NOT come with the mattress, bedspread, and so on. Those are purchased separately.

Anyway, I wanted to redecorate/remodel my room with a whole black/white scheme, so my furniture needed to be black (while the wall was painted white). I wanted to downsize all the clutter of furniture I was previously using as well, and I had several chests of drawers and dressers that I didn't really need. The fact that this bed came with two drawers for storage was PERFECT for me, and might I add, they are fairly spacious and open up much smoother than I expected; they are as quiet as a mouse. To eliminate any confusion, it only comes with two drawers on one side, not four.

Constructing/putting together this piece did take a little over three hours, but that was by myself, and this setup would go a lot quicker with two or more people involved. The instructions do a good job in walking you through the setup process, and all of the parts are definitely there (except for tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and things of that nature). I'd say with two "handy" individuals it would take around two hours to put together; and trust me, the ned result is well worth it!

If, by any chance, you "ding" up the bed, it comes with a touch-up marker that can cosmetically cover-up any surface scratches and things of that nature, which is nice, but I didn't have any problem with that.

It's been over a month now, and I can honestly say I am very pleased with the purchase; not to mention the price is quite the bargain, and free shipping to boot! This allows my bed to be very sturdy and it doesn't "shake" or move around through all the tossings and turnings of the night. I give this product a 5/5 rating, and I would highly recommend it to anyone! :)

I am extremely pleased with this bed. I am a 71 yr. old female and I was easily able to put this bed together alone. The worst part was carrying pieces from my garage to my bedroom; they are heavy. This is, however, a big plus as the end result produces a very sturdy, stable platform for my memory foam matress. More drawer space would have made this a perfect purchase.

This is a nice simple bed. I spent a lot of time reading and researching beds and trying to find one that matched my tastes. This one has a nice price, a sleek black look, and wasn't difficult to assemble. I spent probably 3-4 hours assembling it. You could probably do it in less but I did it by myself and I wanted to make sure that I followed the directions properly to avoid mistakes. I did make one mistake but it was easily rectified. The instructions were well written but could use some color distinction to help you know which way to flip the pieces. You could figure this out yourself but it would be a good improvement.

The bed itself is quite sturdy. I'm not a big guy at all so it has no trouble whatsoever with my weight. The material is particle board but it holds up well. I will probably buy the matching headboard later on.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product.

Well made, put it together in 2 hours. Looks great with the headboard I bought on here. The drawers are a little small. I would have liked the 2 drawers to run the full length of the bed. But otherwise nice looking.

The looks speak for themselves, see the photo's in the description.

However this is typical cheap particle board construction with cam locks and plastic doweling. If you've ever put together a piece of furniture with this type of construction you'll understand that this material is usually fine for a desk, but generally fall apart the first time you try to move them.

I'm a big guy... 6' 6" and heavy set, After looking at the materials I almost sent the thing back. There is simply no way that the decking on this bed would support me if I put a knee on the mattress and tried to crawl into bed. I ended up keeping the bed, and re-enforced the deck with OSB plywood and added some additional supports under it to distribute the load better. Also I glued all the wood on wood surfaces with carpenters glue.

If you have a couple kids who never jump on the bed you might be fine with this, but for any kind of medium to heavy usage you're going to have to re-enforce the construction. I would not expect it last the first time I tried to use it without the steps I took above.
