We just bought this dresser for our expected newborn. The unit had some damage right out of the box, cosmetic stuff, not a big deal. Our main concern was the material. We were hoping that only some of it would be particle board, with the main structural components made of a light wood.... but come on guys....this whole thing is laminated particle board! I guess that's what one should expect these days for mail order furniture. It will work and the finished product looks nice, but don't expect to beat on it, any scratches will go right through the laminate surface. The makers generously include a touch up pen, which is a clue that they expect it to either arrive damaged or for you to damage it within the first few days. Our advice...if you are going to buy a laminate particle board dresser, go to Walmart and get it cheaper. Like we said, it will work for now, but I'm sure we will be buying a new more expensive dresser from a real furniture maker in the next couple years.

Over all, it's a beautiful dresser and very easy to put together. It recommends two people, but I did it by myself. However, apparently the manufacturer forgot to pre-drill some pretty important holes. It was only one piece (the left side) and easy to fix. That is my only complaint. South Shore Furniture, check your merchandise to make sure all the right holes are there.

This is a bad piece of furniture! My son and his wife wanted it so we bought it for them without seeing it. My husband and I always buy quality furniture, and I wish we could send this back, but we already started to put it together. My husband had to glue all of the nails in because they would not hold, and the drawer bottoms are cardboard. I would never buy this furniture again. I wish we could return it.

I received this item and the whole top piece was broken. I went on to South Shores web site and made a claim, and within 2 days a whole new top piece was delivered. Every body makes mistakes and things don't always ship great. But when a company can recover like that, I have no complaints. And for people claiming that it is a cheap product, well it is, look at the price you paid. If your looking for a family heirloom you won't get it for this price. Remember most of the times you get what you pay for. I'm happy with my purchase and will be getting a 5 drawer dresser soon. Don't forget to get a bottle of gorilla glue to help reinforce all joints and drawer bottoms. Makes a huge difference.
