I purchased two of these for my home office before there was a single review for the item (an unusual state for a product on Amazon) so I had some concern over the quality since it was an unknown... I'm happy to say that my reservations were quickly eased as I opened the cartons and saw the finish quality on the wood, the clear markings for the pieces, and the neatly divided hardware pack. Both units I purchased were flawless and were shipped from warehouses on opposite sides of the country, so I'm quite certain it's an accurate sampling of the product from different production lots. This was confirmed by the sole difference I discovered between the two units... One of the two units has the back piece of the base unfinished wood, while the second unit has the cappuccino laminate on the back as well presenting a finished appearance from all sides. Assembly was straightforward and the directions were clear. The only gripe I have is that they included stickers to cover the screw holes instead of plugs which I feel would present a far more attractive appearance. This isn't something that warranted a reduction of the overall rating however as I have a $3,500 studio desk from a US manufacturer that also used the same sticker method for concealing screw holes. I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish, sturdy, and eye catching bookcase.

The piece is beautiful but I have spent over an hour trying to get the shelves to attach. There is a long black screw that is supposed to go into the shelf where a "bolt?" is placed and it is supposed to hold together. When I place the bolt in the shelf and test it works great, but as soon as I try to attach the screw through the back support they WILL NOT LOCK! I have put together a ton of furniture over the years and have never had this many issues. If anyone has any advice please share and maybe I'll redo my review but for now it is useless as it's in pieces on my floor.

The bookcase is a very dark brown finish, with authentic looking wood grain. It was exceptionally well fabricated, making assembly very easy. The hardware was contained in a long strip of easily identifiable parts divided individually. All of the prepped drill holes are placed perfectly. The finish is even. I was surprised such an inexpensive piece of furniture is so well made.

It is lightweight considering it's over six feet tall. I placed the heaviest items on the bottom row. The lightest items are at the top. I am not concerned about the upper shelves handling weight however. My plants are very happy with their new elegant home near a window. Plus, I now decluttered my living room, finding a home for my globe collections, mineral specimens (they haven't scratched up the surface), coffee table books and plants.
