We've had this headboard up about a year, and we're really appreciating it. Great price for the product. Very durable, though it is a bit lighter weight than I originally expected. Easy to set up on a regular steel wood frame. Nice oak finish, but note this is not oak wood so not as heavy. We have mission style bedroom furniture made of oak which we bought a number of years ago when furniture was still made in the USA. After deciding that a headboard would be a good addition to our bedroom set, we looked around and found a decided lack of anything mission themed. Amazon and a few other internet sites were our only choices. We decided to go with Amazon. The color of the headboard matched our set fairly well; it's close maybe a little lighter. One thing I pointed out to my wife when she said, hey, it's oak. The headboard is oak colored, not oak wood. You really have to read the small print. The headboard is made overseas and comes in modular pieces. The wood is something like burch which is smooth with little grain. It came well packaged and is designed to be put together with a minimum of tools; the tool kit does come with a small nut wrench and allen wrench. A rubber mallet is useful in tapping some pieces in place. The instructions where adequate and I had it together in 20 minutes. Every piece fit together well. There are dowels on some of the pieces that provide alignment while screwing together. You could use wood glue if desired but it's not necessary.
The hardware kit also comes with enough screw/bolts, nuts and nylon washers to connect to a standard bed frame. Our bed is fairly tall so I decided to take an idea from another reviewer and mount the headboard directly to the wall with either long screws if I'm lucky enough to hit a stud but more likely a large butterfly molly bolt. That way, I can get more height and keep the headboard from banging on the wall. All in all, this was a good purchase.
