Shipped in one box, the Fedex driver enlisted me in getting it out of the truck. Weighed a ton!

Directions did not match the parts we received. Headboards and footboards were not labeled nor were the screw holes correctly drilled. This caused alot of confusion trying to assemble the bed as we were unsure of what we were doing. One screw hole did not line up for the countersunk nut to engage a bolt. Instead of waiting for a new part to come, we redrilled the hole. One set of holes were on the wrong side of the headboard. We chose to overlook this as the headboard would be against the wall and the countersunk nuts would be hidden.

If the directions were clearer, the parts stamped to match the directions and the holes drilled correctly (we had 3 misdrilled holes) assembly would have been much, much quicker. We spent approx. 4 hours assembling the bed but I chose to glue all the dowels (and there are a bunch of them!) so this added to the time spent assembling. Not sure if glueing the dowels was a good choice and the directions did not give any guidance.

Overall, I like the bed but assembly was frustrating.

Purchased this bed for my 4 year old twins and we use it as 2 twin beds. It's perfect height for them. It is well constructed and you can't beat the price which includes free shipping. Only problem I had was the shipping. Since it was so big, UPS had hard time with it and they damaged it. So Amazon sent another one through FedEx and the box was little torn but the product didn't have any damage.

This bunk bed is solid and attractive. Assembly was not easy, but that should be excepted for such a large item. The only minor complaint: the stain used on the wood had a very strong odor for a few weeks. It has now dissipated, but seemed rather toxic at first.

For the price, this is a great bunk bed.

Nice bed but if you are looking to separate the beds & use the top bed with railings for a toddler, this is not the bed for you as the ladder is attached to the entire side rail.

We bought the bed about a week ago. I assembled it--not too bad, although the bed railing numbers did not match those listed in the parts list or instructions. I realized that so long as you line up the two rails with stair attachments, it will work.

The day after I put it together, my wife got in the bottom bunk and the slats collapsed--detached from the railing and exposed several sharp mounting screws. The mattress fell, but no one was hurt. The slats are too narrow--they will not reach from side to side and there is no reasonable way to install them that guarantees this won't happen.

So I called Storkcraft to request new slats. I waited on hold for fifteen minutes, and finally got through to someone who spoke very difficult to understand English. She insisted that I needed to take a photo and send it to them. So I took two photos--one of the collapsed slats and the other of the splintered rail and sent them off. The e-mail bounced. Sent it again with only one attachment and got it through.

I thought to myself--since I've taken the trouble of taking photos and all, why don't I file a report with the Consumer Product Safety Commission? So I did.

And I thought I owed it to you fellow Amazon shoppers to let you know that the bed I bought and spent three hours putting together is not, in my estimation, safe.
