Modus Furniture Newport Bed, Cordovan

I ordered this bed to hold our new memory foam mattress the slats would provide the air circulation needed under the foam. The assembly was fairly easy it was only slightly awkward because we needed a California King size, so all the parts were bigger. The deliveryman kindly agreed to take it the several long boxes to our 2nd floor, thank goodness. The frame is great quality for the money I shopped around a lot and didn't find anything nearly as nice for the price. The slats were of a lesser quality wood, and had big knots in the wood, but there were enough of them and they don't show, so that it didn't matter. The shape of the headboard and the legs are sleek, and it looks very nice in our bedroom. I would recommend this to a friend.

I ordered this bed based on a lot of internet research about the product. Amazon.com had the best price and the shipping was free. The bed arrived in record time, a full week before the estimated delivery date. It's really beautiful, sturdy and well-made. Exactly as described. I had a friend help me put it together and would recommend two people for the job although it is very easy to assemble. The second pair of hands just made it easier because it is big I'm a small woman and a bit cumbersome. It could be done by one person though as it is not at all complicated. Assembly took about 20 minutes. Overall, this was a great experience.

I am reviewing the Modus Newport King Size Platform Bed, Cordovan. The bed arrived early. Shipping estimate was for Feb 15th and the bed arrived on Feb 11th. The bed came packaged in 3 boxes. First box was very large and contained the headboard and footboard. The second box contained the platform rolled slat kit. The third box had the side rails, hardware, and center support rail and feet.

I unboxed and layed all items out in roughtly the configuration of final assembly. After assembling the center support, I went through the directions and attached side rail to headboard and footboard and then attached the opposite side rail. Of note here, do not fully tighten the rails at this point. You may need to reposition them in relation to the location of the slats to line up the pre-drilled holes to attach the slats with the provided wood screws.

After attaching the side rails, I layed the slats out and spread them evely accross the bed rails. The holes lined up well after adjusting the rail hardware a bit so the rails were the propper width appart in relation to the length of the slats. After screwing down the slats, I installed the center support and attached them with the provided allen bolts.

Total assembly for unboxing to finished product was about 30 minutes. I then unpacked our newly delivered memory foam mattress and let it fully expand.

The quality of the wood is wonderful, and the finish is very nice. Attached to the frame is a card explaining the type of wood, how the finish was applied and the care and cleaning instructions.

I am very pleased with this product and think it good quality for the price, and has a very attractive finish. It is darker than the rest of our bedroom furniture, but that is expected since our old set was pine mission style. The mahogony is really nice, and I would like to replace our existing furniture with other pieces from the Newport collection.

Beware is does ding easily, especially if you're clumsy like me.

If you have an active sex life then you will need better slats, the center support is pretty awful.

Still glad I bought it though!
