When we opened the set the table was significantly damaged. It appears as though the seller did an excellent job with packing the set very carefully but it still arrived damaged? The corner is cracked and about to fall off and a piece underneath the table was also broken. Aside from the damange that might have occurred during shipping, the table quality does not appear to be that great. There was a large divot in the middle of the table and there were also two cracks on the side of the table. I would rather pay more for a better quality table. I contacted the seller on Friday with the damage complaint and a request to return and I still have not received any direction from them and it's Wednesday now. I would probably not re-order another dining set online because of the hassle of trying to return this item. We had to destroy the box and packing to open the table and I have no idea how we are going to package it back up for return.
The seller got back with me within a couple of days. They sent out a new table within a couple of days. I didn't have the packaging of the old table anymore so they were willing to send me the new table and I am supposed to contact them when I packed up the broken table in the packaging of the replacement table. The new table was fine. It had a little crack on a support bracket that hold up the leaf (under the table) but I didn't want to worry about sending back that table so I just bought and installed a metal "L" bracket.
I would still recommend buying this table. I think it's worth the money and it's a very pretty table.
UPDATE (after about 1-2 months of use): I finally figured out how to slide the table apart and why it was stuck. It's broke. I just contacted the seller and hope I will be able to exchange the table. As for now I took 1 star away because item was damaged.
As for the chairs, I still love them and the table seems to not scratch too easily (we use place mats for eating, but also have a 3 year old kid who does everything from eating to drawing at the table).
First review: I just received the dining room table set yesterday and I am very happy with it. The wood is very pretty and looks just like the picture. The chairs look a little lighter than the picture, nevertheless pretty. I didn't get a chance to sit on the chairs for longer than it takes to eat dinner, but they seem comfortable and I can't wait to invite people to have game nights. :).It was easy to assemble. I did it by myself and it took about 1-1.5 hours. The chairs come disassembled, so does the table but you really only have to put the 4 legs on the table. The table is very heavy, I recommend two people setting it up.
All in all a great deal, the only complaint I'd have is the way it was shipped.It was very fast (took a week to get here) and they did a great job protecting the furniture (the table came in a box around the original box that was filled with that spray foam stuff to protect the contents). but it arrived via FedEx and they had one guy delivering it with no means of getting it off the truck. So I helped him get it out but it was too heavy for me and we had to slide it across the driveway...Don't know if that is a senders or deliverers issue, but the FedEx guy told me he usually never ships items that big and heavy.Usually that would be freight.
It came with clear instructions on how to assemble it but not how to take the leaf out and "install" it (this is my first set with a leaf so I don't know how those work. Right now it's kinda stuck and I can't slide the table apart even after I loosen the hook under the table.)
In short: I'm giving it 5 stars as of right now because it came undamaged, looks very pretty and the chairs are comfortable and was shipped within 1 week.
