Coaster Antique Brown Leaning Mirror in Crackle Finish

Coaster Antique Brown Leaning Mirror in Crackle FinishProduct rate is > 0. DO NOT BUY, this is a $200.00 piece of Coaster Furniture GARBAGE. Frame is cheap, backing to the "mirror" is a thin, cheap material NOT attached to the frame, although Staples (!) were visible. The "directions" show wall securing pieces which were not included. Brookstone responded quickly to my email with a message to contact the CSU. Called 3x, waited on hold, was never connected to anyone.

First, I'd give the mirror more of a 3.5 stars based on the product and my experience with Coaster/Brookstone in getting it.

I read the 1-star review below and thought I'd offer up another experience with this mirror. First off, I ordered this mirror (made by Coaster) from Brookstone.com. If you search this mirror on Google shopping, you will see Brookstone offers the same mirror from Coaster at a much cheaper price than the competitors (sometimes substantially cheaper). Even Amazon (here: Sedro Leaning Floor Mirror Antique Brown Crackle) has it priced at $300.00 from another retailer. I received the mirror and had a few issues with it, which I will go into in a sec, but was pretty much happy with the product considering the price at which I bought it (~$184). Similar quality and size floor mirrors will generally cost you a lot more than $184.

Here are some issues:

Yes, there were some quality flaws. I can't speak for the inserts where you would hook in the screws for hanging on the wall. I have it resting against my wall just fine and the inserts are present. One thing I will say is that I'm uncertain the screws and inserts provided would truly provide the support needed for hanging at 50+ lbs. Again, this wasn't an issue for me. Further, the other reviewer is correct, it seems the backing is thin and the staples to attach it to the frame are flimsy. Half of my staples had stripped upon arrival. However, I simply duct taped the entire back (i.e. where the staples had stripped and where they hadn't) and this seems to provide the necessary support. I never feel like the mirror or backing are about the fall out/off or anything is moving or not secure. Also, the top left of the frame was had a small crack between the two adjacent pieces of frame in that corner. It was more cosmetic than anything and is not apparent unless focusing on it, especially considering the texture and color of the frame itself. Other than that, the mirror itself was in perfect condition and I, myself, am a fan of the "antique brown crackle finish" of the frame. It is a GREAT size.

Also, I don't know the track record for Coaster itself. Brookstone had decent customer service for me. It showed in-stock on the Brookstone website, but wasn't back in stock until a few weeks later based on a phone call or two. The processing/fulfillment (the bulk of it on Coaster's side supposedly) took about a week or so and the product arrived 3-5 days after that. I never contacted Brookstone took care of any contact with Coaster, so I can't speak on dealing with them, but I'd give Brookstone a 6 or 7 out of 10 for their customer service. Brookstone is a reputable retailer (of course) and I can't stress enough in finding this mirror (or the quality/size like) at this price from a reputable retailer.

Again:

Pros:

* size

* frame

** price

Cons:

* quality issues concerning the backing and potential small, cosmetic flaws on the frame

* Brookstone had decent customer service, but when it came to actually receiving the mirror, I did have to make at least 2 phone calls to customer service to see what was going on (whether it was an issue with Coaster, whom it shipped from, or Brookstone, I'm not sure)

Concerns (neither Pro nor Con):

* effectively and securely hanging the mirror from the wall

IMO, the pros outweigh cons and the mirror looks great. We had been searching for a while and, at this price point, it is difficult to find a floor mirror of this size and quality. It looks great and I would still recommend it.

Cheers!

(Oh, also check for coupons for Brookstone.com as you may be able to get it slightly cheaper than Amazon.com's Brookstone store depending on what coupons are available at the time.)

It is beautiful! The frame looks much more expensive than is (one would only hope so!). In my opinion, it easliy compares with the $400 + mirrors, or what I have seen of them. It is huge! Nearly the size of an interior door! So when it arrrives, be! It is not something that you want to move a lot. Quite heavy! Also, bulky and of course movement increases the worry of breaking it! It would be difficult, as it is thick glass (No measurement available to me at the moment).

Some reviewers have noted that the frame was somewhat flimsy, or not attached to the mirror correctly/needing more installation than noted. I however, did not find any of this to be a problem. In comparrison to many similar mirror, I have NO complaints what so ever. The value way over rides and extra screws that may be needed for wall mount.

There was an issue shortly after placing the order of availablity. A bit of lack of communication on sellers behalf. Possibly mine, as I spoke to online, several different people. Once I reached the correct person, the matter was taken care of immedicatly and even compensated for the inconveince! And please excuse the fact I cannot spell!

All in all, a 5 star rating and if I could do it over, I would do exactly the same!

Thanks again, Amazon!
