59" Kids' Legare Select Bookcase

This high-quality bookcase has to be the best-looking bookcase I have found. My daughter is 5 yrs. old and it is perfect for her. She uses it to put her school books and papers on. It was extremely easy (and fun!) to assemble. My daughter helped me to put the puzzle pieces together.

We also bought the matching desk and it has really made her room look wonderful and is so functional.

Usually I have to wait and wait for my husband to assemble products, but I did this by myself. It is like giant puzzle pieces and works so well and is surprisingly stable after assembly. Do recommend attaching to the wall as it is so tall kids could pull it over. Love the pink color no scratches and delivered on time. Glad I got 2 one for each side of my daughter's room. I will buy Legare again for sure.

The fact that the bookcase was no tools was not a factor for me, although I understand the it can be for some. The manufacturer claims are correct, with this item taking to assemble in 10 min as well as being sturdy. What I found in two packages, as I returned the first one, is poor quality control. The paint is not applied evenly throughout the pieces. The edges of pieces are missing paint on some pieces and in the slots on each piece the milling is rough (surface roughness, and the paint is not applied evenly). I would have expected that the paint is evenly applied across each piece, to grant it 4 or 5 stars. Basically it looks like you just bought a used piece of furniture that was kept in good condition rather than what new furniture should look like.

Another aspect is that if you have hardwood floors there is nothing at the bottom of the piece that will prevent the bookcase from scratching the floor. I would have expected plastic casters, or felt like other furniture. I took care of this myself but this should have been provided. If you can get a product that is free of defects I would recommend it, but based on my experience with two samples having the same defects, it appears to be a factory quality control issue. Packaging was excellent and there is no way that this damage has occurred in shipping. My recommendation is to look elsewhere until they resolve their quality issues. I chose to keep the furniture due to having the desk that goes with this set, but will buy another type for my other daughter.
