Assembly is fairly easy although the instructions aren't the greatest. It seems strong and well-built. The shelves are glass and completely opaque. I will note that it came with two sets of the shelf separator rings, black and chrome. (The example photo shows the chrome.) Both types are plastic, and they're both kind of cheap-looking up-close, but it wasn't a big deal once it was all together. Finally, one of the bullet points indicates that the shelves are adjustable. Each level has four of the black tubes that hold it all together, and each set is a different length so the shelf space gets smaller from bottom to top. The only adjustment you can make is to put the sets in a different order or to eliminate the shelves entirely. (So it's not four long tubes that the shelves slide onto and you can adjust any way you want, it's 16 tubes plus the 4 feet.)

I anguished many days, sometimes buying on line is an adventure. Well, I took a chance, the pictured looked like what I wanted, however the picture was, um, well.....it sucked! To my surprise, the unit is way nicer than I expected. Weighed a ton on delivery, I felt bad for ups guy. Easy assembly, and very happy with build. Really a solid and sharp looking unit. Delivery was fast, I am VERY pleased! Looks great in my tv room.

I have been researching media stands for months now wanted it to work well with my style, as well as hold all of my media equipment, including a turntable for records. Also, needed it to work in a rather small corner. Aesthetics and function.

It is much sharper looking in person. It is a more contemporary piece, but flows well with my shabby chic style. The wiring through the open back is a bit 'ugly', but with a little creativity was able to hide the cords/wires. Solid piece, easy to put together (thank goodness!).

Am quite pleased, and I am a very discriminate shopper. The price is also the lowest I found in this range of quality.

This is a very elegant piece once it is fully assembled. It is even more striking because all of my components are black. Rather than follow the instructons word for word you need to use your common sense given that the instructions are somewhat misleading. Part of the instructional sheet refers to five holes when there are only four holes. But this should be obvious to the person assembling the unit.

Looking for a component tower that wasn't 5' tall, looked modern, had 5 shelves, and didn't cost over $200... turned into a surprising chore! I looked for weeks and this was the product I kept ending up on. So I bought it.

I like the glass and metal tubes. The shiny little disc ends where the poles meet the glass come in both chrome and black, and you can choose which to install when you're assembling it. Also, the tubes come in sets of 4, but can be put in any order you like (for instance, you could put the big shelf pictured in the middle at the top, or the bottom).

Overall, the product is sound quality, and looks good (read `not cheap'). It fit my space perfectly and holds all that I have thrown on it (A/V box, cable box, X-box, Blu-ray, VCR). As I add more in the future (Xbox 360?) I plan to just stack components since some of the shelves are tall enough for that.

My only concern is that I might break the glass due to the way it is constructed with the tubes just pressing down onto the glass with a threaded piece going through. So far this hasn't happened, but anytime I move it a few inches to get at the back I am just waiting to hear it crack...

Like I said though, I am satisfied with it, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a product that meets the same criteria as mine.
