South Shore Furniture, Sand Castle Collection, Twin Mates Bed 39"

We ordered this bed for our little girl's 6th birthday. She was really looking forward to it! When we peeled it out of its cardboard shell, we realized that several of the weight-bearing boards were splintered in half! We called Amazon customer service only to be told that they would not accept photographic proof of the damaged item, but that we had to go out and find and buy a box big enough to hold this damaged item and then return it. I cannot lift this on my own. The pieces that were not broken are longer than I am tall. Where on Earth am I going to find a box that will fit this?

She was very smug and unforgiving about the broken bed and sounded highly pleased with herself when I told her that there would be no boxes big enough to hold this item. She happily told me that I could not have the item replaced or refunded, and that I was simply out the $163 that I spent on a broken piece of junk.

Didn't want to break the bank at a fancy furniture store, but also don't care for the cheap plastic furniture made for kids. This is an excellent compromise, particle wood to be sure, but very well made, heavy and sturdy, easy to put together (took me, by myself, about one hour). Drawers aren't the smoothest in opening, but sturdier than most others. Nice finish, packaged extremely well.

Gotta love Amazon, free shipping for such a heavy item; this is easily the best price you will find (actually dropped $10 from the $150 I paid for it) anywhere, especially if you consider delivery fees... Thinking of rounding out my daughter's bedroom with the rest of the collection (nightstand, headboard with bookshelves, dresser).

The bed itself is OK, the drawers are much shallower than i anticipated and hardly fit a twin-size comforter. My biggest grief is with the smell the bed emits. We went through the whole room looking for the source of the smell and finally realized it is the bed itself. I am going to coat everything that is not painted white with couple lacquer coats and see if that helps. I will try contacting the mnfg to see if they acknowledge the issue.

The bed is nice for the price. Seems sturdy so far. I'm using it as a bed for a toddler and it's nice b/c its not that high. The only thing is the 2 drawers are very difficult to open and close; so they don't glide out easily...but it's a fixable problem. Other than that, I'm happy with the product.

This bed was purchased as a gift for one of our kids. It arrived quickly. Unfortunately, it also arrived without assembly instructions. Online chat and a phone call to the company have resulted in nothing but frustration. I was asked repeatedly to provide the serial number because they "always put a sticker on the product" with the serial number. Yeah, sure, like they always put assembly instructions in the box! Apparently there is no other bit of information that can be used to determine which model we've received. Awesome. I love having a 110 lb. paperweight.
