Frenchi Home Furnishing Cherry Finish Wood Twist Style Hat/Coat Rack Stand

I originally gave this product a five-star review. I love its classy look, ease of assembly, and the price is hard to beat. However, one of the legs broke after about three months. The socket holding the leg just splintered off. We did not overload or abuse the coat rack; it just broke on its own, and fortunately no one was around when it happened (we went out to dinner and when we came home it was on the floor).

We really liked this coat rack and, despite the problem, decided to order another one hoping we had just gotten a bad one. I set the new one up today (4/26/12) and discovered that it now comes with a metal brace that fits around the bottom of the unit where the legs go in their sockets. Apparently we were not the only ones that had the issue of the broken leg. The assembly instructions list the brace as "optional," but I would HIGHLY recommend using it if you buy this coat rack.

UPDATE 6/11/13: The replacement rack with the metal brace broke today, in the same manner as the first: the socket holding the leg splintered and the coat rack fell over. This one lasted a little over a year; at least it was better than the first one which only lasted three months. I've reduced the rating to two stars. This is probably my last go-around for this coat rack, I may invest in a better one that will hold up over the long haul. This one would be cheap to replace with the same thing, but I would hate for it to fall over on my toddler or one of my pets.

This product is sensational! I LOVED it so much I wish i had ordered more than one. After I told my sister about it, she ordered it too. It is beautiful and classy looking in cherrywood and it took me 3 minutes to put it together and that is phenonenal for me since I am so directionally challenged. Five stars for a great product!!

This rack has a great look to it but the quality of the wood that holds the legs in place at the base is extremely poor. It splintered while I was in the process of setting it up which means the leg no longer slides into the base. Also, the three pieces that screw together to form the upright pole do not have a flush fit. I will be seeking a replacement part.
