I got this bed because regular bunk beds were a little too tall for my tastes, and I still have little kids, I worried about someone tumbling from the top. This bed is at least a foot lower then the other bunkbeds. I've put a mattress on the floor underneath for my 2 year old, and my five year old is on top.
My bed is the white version, instead of multicolored, and it doesn't have a popout tent, instead it just has a tent that goes flat down the sides of the bed. My two year old thinks it's wicked funny to close up the tent at bedtime and sleep in his little cave.
This bed does take up more room, but I think it would be foolish to think that it wouldn't... it's got to fit a ladder, slide and tent. And for the price, it can't be beat!
The tent material is a normal nylon thing tent material. So far mine hasn't ripped at all, and I've had it for about a year. I bet if kids were trying to climb the tent it would rip, but normal use doesn't seem to be a problem.
The only thing I dislike about the bed is that the side rails seem rather short. I'd prefer if they were a few inches taller. But again, I'm paranoid about falls.
I heartily recommend it as a bed though. When the bed arrived it was intimidating especially that the parts were not clearly identified. However, it was very easy to put together. It does take up a lot of room, but his room looks clean now that he has a place to store his toys out of sight. The reaction of my five year old was worth every penny. The manufacture does not have weight restriction written on the product, but when I called they confirmed the weight limit was 180 pounds. My son's friends spend hours playing in his room now. FYI... since buying this bed my son has not attempted to sneak into my bed. This is a great first time standard twin bed. There are also many ways to adjust the use of the bed as he ages. You just have to have a good imagination.I wish I was 5 again.

This is a sturdy bed, and it looks good, but when we bought it, we didn't think about space in my son's bedroom. This bed takes up almost all of his room. the 'tent' part of this is pretty cheap. A lot of the ties that hold the tent on have broken off, and the material has ripped. I really wish we had gotten a regular bunkbed set, so our sone could have more room, and a bed for a friend for sleepovers.Read Best Reviews of Coaster Bunk Bed with Slide and Tent, Multicolor Here
The bed was delivered by a private courier and came with free shipping. I am not sure if that is the way it is delivered always, or just due to my location. This bed is well made and is pretty basic to put together, however the instructions left a lot to the imagination. When putting the bed together make sure to pay very close attention during each step. There are several places in the instructions that do not fully explain or only show screwing in two nuts and leaves out the showing you the third. If you are like me, I thought it was because I would need to screw it in during a later step (I was wrong). I ended up having several left over screws and several places I needed to go back to finish because of the way things were left out. Also, the parts are not labeled at all, making it difficult to distinguish between them.
The bed took approximately ~3.5 hours to put together and could have taken a lot less time if the instructions would have been clearer.

We just bought this for my 4 year olds birthday he loves it! Our 1 year old can climb up the slide and get up. The desk on the end was just to much for there small room. The canopy tent is in there playroom as a free standing tent because of limited room space. All and all a great product very sturdy and built well. The bad when it can in the box was in very bad shape and the instructions are terrible all it gives you a vague pictures and none of the screws are labeled it was a little confusing. Took about 3 hrs to assemble. Would definatly recommend this product my son loves it.
