Hillsdale Brookland Daybed, Side Rails, Trundle and Back, Brown Leather

We read many positive reviews about this daybed. Many people on many sites described this daybed and "high quality" and heavy. I am not sure how other people define high quality, but this is NOT in my opinion. Here is our experience:

1. The back of the daybed is only 19" deep. No product description provides this information. There is a gap between the back of the daybed and the mattress. Throw pillows will cover it, but definitely not high quality. Very poor design.

2. The back of the daybed is covered in a paper like material. So any desire to place this bed anywhere in the house but against the wall is out of the question.

3. The "leather" is not leather at all. It is a very thin chinsey fabric like material that does not look, feel, or smell like leather. In fact when we received our daybed, a hole was punched into the center of the back piece so we got a good look at what the "leather" was. Just a man made "pleather". Not sure how this can be called leather, but it is NOT.

4. The padding between the wood and the "pleather" is very thin. We can see bumps and ripples under the "pleather" because it is so poorly upholstered. When you touch the arms, you feel wood, not padding.

5. When we received the daybed the slats for the bed were too big. My husband had to use his table saw and trim 3/4 of an inch off the slats so they would fit into the bed frame. The slats for the trundle were fine.

6. The fabric straps on the slats were attached wrong so the slats were twisted and flipped. My husband is an engineer, so we are certain it wasn't a packing issue. The straps were stapled wrong. Took the staples out and fixed those.

7. The bolts that hold the front piece above the trundle were not lined up so that front piece is attached awkward. On one side the piece is flush with the arm, the other side is in-set about 1/4 of an inch.

This bed looks great from a distance, across the room. My Dad always said "looks good from the road" and that is what you have here. Just don't touch it or look at is too close.

This would be a fine product if it were an IKEA $200 daybed. But, it is not. It is a $1000 daybed. I expected more!

This thing is zero stars. I just received this daybed that looks so nicely on the picture in 3 damaged boxes. I am in shock. One box was opened, second was barely together and third had holes in it. I so regret for not having the delivery guys take it back. I was optimistic that the product inside was ok. WRONG!!! Corners are missing from boards, torn wood, nails sticking out everywhere. It looks like someone put it together and then tore it apart. The wood is very poor quality so basically this thing is trash. I will not reorder this. The delivery guys were late so delivered after 5pm. Amazon customer service was not able to help me because their special office that deals with this kind of thing is closed after 5pm Pacific time. Meanwhile the boxes are a hazard to my kid to have for who knows how long. Calgon take me away!!!! Never buying furniture on Amazon.

I've had this product for over a year now and it's great. Instructions could use some improvement, but overall not too bad. I had it put together in about 15 mins.

We've had this daybed for a year now, ordered it directly from Cymax. No problems with delivery and it was easy for my husband to put together. It is a beautiful piece -very substantial piece of furniture...it makes the room!
