This product is sturdy for the most part. It's as sturdy as particle board can be. The do-it-yourself instructions are illustrated, but it would be slightly easier to follow if it illustrated the polished white finish and the bare particle board.

There are extra supports to prevent the drawers from buckling if they're overloaded.

The parts that hold the frame together were slightly loose. If someone were to pull on the head board of the frame (or the foot board), the bed could easily fall apart. I used wood glue to re-enforce them. I don't think it should be that way, but either way, it was easy enough to fix the problem.

Would I recommend this?

I'd say no if you want something that's good to go right out of the box.

I'd say yes if you're looking to save on the price and you have some wood glue available.

Of course take all reviews with a grain of salt and consider a bad review to sometimes be the result of a lemon. However, this is a case of "you get what you pay for." I've already had to replace one of the boards under the mattress. The assembly was easy...but the material is definitely shoddy so only buy this if you are not going to move it any time soon or only want it use it for a small, lightweight child.

Not a very well built bed and extremely heavy. It's built out of pressboard, which I expected for the price. The two biggest problems I have are the weight, which makes it nearly impossible to move as it sits flush with the floor and you are unable to get a grip underneath to lift it. The other issue I have is much bigger. This is obviously a child's bed, which would make you think it's relatively safe. Both of my children have gotten cuts from the bed. My 16 month old son fell next to the bed and scratched his back (enough to make it bleed) on one of the drawer handles and on another occasion, my daughter cut her hand on one of the many sharp edges of the bed.

I like this bed for a child. I don't think it would support an adult, but it was for my 4 year old so it is fine. I really like the silver hardware and the storage drawers. I'm happy with this purchase.
