Coaster Fine Furniture 460056k Full Over Full Bunk Bed, Metal Black

Coaster Fine Furniture 460056k Full Over Full Bunk Bed, Metal BlackI have two growing boys who share one sorta small bedroom, so I had to do something about the sleeping arrangements; a FULL over FULL bunk bed seemed to be the logical solution. But finding a SPACE SAVING --AND-FULL over FULL bunk bed can be huge problem as most B&Ms seem to sell only these elaborate wooden contraptions that take up a huge amount of space. Enter, again, AMAZON.COM to save the day, as I found and bought this METAL, COMPACT, FULL over FULL bunk bed.

Due to its size, it was shipped as freight, NOT by FEDEX or UPS, but by a third party freight hauler.

As For the Bunk Bed:

It's FULL over FULL.

It's very sturdy. So, if you are worried as I was about this, then put your fears to rest, cause this bunk bed is, as I just stated, VERY sturdy!

It's a really simple design. It's made from welded steel tubing which makes it very compact and pretty lightweight. It's a space saver for sure.

If you have it on a wooden floor, you can slide it around fairly easily. The feet have plastic protectors on them.

Two people can assemble it in just over an hour. Just make sure that you assemble it in the room it's gonna be in like I did, or you will be starting all over.

There's no need to buy special mattresses or bunkie-boards as the platforms will accept regular mattresses.

Highly Recommended !

-------UPDATE-------4/30/2013-------

So, we've had this bunk bed for over six months now, and everybody really loves it! The kids especially.

I should add two things: 1) Have you noticed that both bunks have started squeaking a bit after a few weeks of use? Well, there is an easy fix for this! Just get a can of WD40 and spray the assembly joints, just a quick shot on all eight joints should do the trick, and after a few nights sleep, most of the squeaking will stop. And 2) My wife and I have learned that the bed is light enough to slide around on the wooden floor, and sliding it out from the corner is the best way to change the sheets, instead of trying to crawl all over the bottom bunk and reaching up high on the top bunk. It's literally light enough for her alone to slide out from against the wall so she can get around to the back side to easily change the sheets. Now, try changing sheets this way on a 500 pound wooden bunk bed !!! Yeah, that's what I thought! You can't.

I am a 71 year old lady and I unpacked the bed and put it together without help. The bed is very sturdy and an excellent idea for a small bedroom where you have to sleep a lot of people. Four people can sleep in this bed and be very comfortable. The price is excellent. Coaster Rustic Black Metal Full over Full Bunk Bed

My boys' room does not have a lot of space, but they are growing so quickly. I didn't want to do the traditional twin over twin bunk so I went with the full size bunk. It was very easy to put together and it is quite sturdy. The bunk isn't as tall as most bunks so it works out great in there room where there is a ceiling fan. Black goes with any decor. Overall, it's a great buy.

We needed to do something to save some space in the bedrooms of our growing boys! So we got this for our two older boys (12 and 10). As the other reviewers said, this bed is more sturdy than it looks in the photo! It is easy to put together, and attractive in a boys' room. It also is space saving, because there is no bulky wooden legs or ladders to take up valuable space.

As far as some of the concerns about the space on the bottom bunk....I think this bunk was spaced well. There will be more room above your head on the top bunk than the bottom bunk, but this is good, because if you have to climb up there, you want some head space to maneuver! As far as the bottom bunk....most bunk beds do not have enough head space to sit up in them unless the child is very young...so I think it is normal as far as bunks go. The only way you are going to get head space on BOTH bunks is to have a very high ceiling, I think, and then specifically order an extra tall bunk from somewhere else.

My 12 year old son is 5'9" and he sleeps on the bottom bunk and has no problems with it. He loves to lay there and read. The extra width space compared to the old twin beds feels very luxurious to the kids, and they are VERY pleased with their new bed. It also freed up room in their bedroom for some other furniture as well.

One leg did come scratched...the box actually had a little jar of touch up paint in it, but the lid had fallen off and the paint had dried...so I just colored in the white scratches with a black Sharpie. *shrug*

The only *possible* drawback I could see is that if you buy a regular sized mattress, the top railing will not go very far over the edge of the mattress. We got a mattress that is made for bunks, but they are extra padded, so the top railing is maybe 2-3 inches over the top of the mattress once it has blankets and things on it. Which is fine...but I probably wouldn't recommend a toddler or preschooler sleeping on the top of this bunk bed unless they are a monkey about climbing safely (getting down takes practice because of the completely vertical ladder) and/or unless you have a thinner bunk mattress.

Great bunk! Waiting for a white one to arrive for my other two kiddos. :-) After this, I'm planning that these are the LAST beds we purchase until the kids are out of the house in college! :-)
