First of all, the rug pad cut easily with OXO Kitchen and Herb Shears. Secondly, my local rug dealer said the felt or synthetic felt rug pads stick better to the underside of a machine-made rug than the open-weave or coated scrim rug pads (the felt sticks better to the slicker rug back surface of a machine-made rug as compared with the coarser rug back surface of a hand-knotted rug). Thirdly, Vantage Industries, the maker of this rug pad, states on their company website (if you read their product packaging) that the material is "Needlepunch Duragon." Nowhere does Vantage Industries state the backing is 100% (natural) rubber and my limited understanding is that Duragon is a synthetic rubber (does not contain any natural rubber latex). I mention this fact because some online sellers do imply or wrongly state that the backing is rubber.I bought the 10'x14' size to carve out an 8'x11' rug pad and have 3' in length and 2' in width leftover to cut up and use on smaller rugs throughout my house. I actually have several larger rugs using this Super Movenot Rug Pad (a 9'x12' machine made rug on solid hardwood, an 11'x15' hand-knotted rug on solid hardwood, and an 8'x11' hand-tufted rug on solid hardwood) and they hold well. But, the smaller rugs (hand-knotted, hand-tufted, and machine-made rugs) will not stay put on ceramic tiles, marble tiles, engineered hardwood, or solid hardwood floorings. The rugs do all attach well to the synthetic felt, but the Duragon (synthetic rubber) backing does not stick to any of my flooring materials (after one to two weeks' time). For these smaller rugs (2'x4' and 2'x3'), the rug pad and rug itself slide around in unison upon all my floors (regardless of whether the rug is hand-knotted, machine-made, or hand-tufted) and regardless of the floor surface (ceramic, marble, engineered hardwood, or polyurethaned solid hardwood). I have had to replace all the smaller pads with 100% natural rubber open-weave rug pads.
I am glad I was successful using the Super Movenot rug pads on the larger rugs, since this pad is much more economical. For the larger, room-sized rugs, this pad does work well and costs considerably less than 100% rubber rug pads. I gave it 3 stars because I have to throw away and replace all the smaller rug pads, which means this rug pad did not work at all on those smaller rugs (which are sizes this pad is precut for), but it did work well on the larger rugs and was very affordable, thus I averaged it as a 3 star product. If it were only sold for larger, room-sized rugs or sold with a caveat that smaller rugs may not stay put, then I would have been warned and the product would not have disappointed me to this degree.

I have really high standards and quality rugs don't come cheap, so a good pad is important. This pad took the look and feel to a whole new level. It shipped within days of the order and is excellent. Quality surpasses the price, will definitely
order more. I especially like that it's allergy free and "green" friendly. Super important in my house.
It's definitely a solid pad, no movement and gives the rug a finished look.

This pad is pretty good, just not sure it's worth the premium over something I could have bought at the local home center. It will be interesting to see how it holds up over time being so thick.
