South Shore Aurora Collection Night Stand
This night stand has a blueberry wash look to it, meaning it isn't a solid appearing finish as the picture seems. It wasn't hard to assemble for the most part. The one area that was difficult was putting the drawer backs on. The screws didn't want to just screw in and I had to actually hammer them in a bit on the drawer back itself and start the screw, then remove it and put it in through the sides as the directions showed. They gave no help in the directions on solving this problem or that the problem may occur, so some tips would have been nice. The top of the nightstand is very sturdy, and solid, and I wish I could say that about all the pieces. Unfortunately some of the supports, the dowels, and the sliders are all just plastic. The bottoms of the drawers are just stiff paperboard or cardboard like with a finish to look like wood on one side. I will say that was a bit disappointing. One thing you can't tell from the picture of the nightstand is that between the kick board at the bottom, and the bottom drawer is a small gap, the drawer doesn't overlap the kick board, you can see into the nightstand through this. Up close, and with no light shining directly in you probably won't really notice, but it's there. Overall though, it went together fine, and the directions were easy enough to follow. It recommends two people to assemble, but I did it on my own. I would recommend it for maybe a kid or teen's room, but not anywhere you necessarily want very distinguished furniture. The price was fine for what the item is, I guess I just didn't expect some of the parts to be so cheaply made. Especially not the drawer bottoms. It does seem solid, sturdy and hold some appeal. The knobs were better quality than I expected after finding plastic dowels and paperboard drawer bottoms, and they have a nice look to them. It's all well and good if you aren't expecting high quality!
