Coaster Cedar Wood Chest, Pine Finish with Hand Painted Floral Accents and Cushioned Pad

Okay, for the price we all know it is not a REAL Cedar Wood Chest (although I was hoping it was). It is pressed wood with a thin layer of Cedar. The outside is veneer on pressed wood. The top of the chest didn't have pre-drilled holes for the hardware that goes with the "locking" mechanism. My husband made a template and we screwed the top locking mechanism on. The lock doesn't work. It's junky and be careful you don't close the lid and have it lock and you can't unlock it! That would be the end of using it for storage. :-) That didn't happen to us but it was in my thoughts. So, we are not messing with the "lock" thingy it offers. The painted floral accents are junky and I might stick something on top of the raised wood section that has the floral accents. Overall you and I know we can't buy a real quality item at this price. I'm keeping the chest because of the cost to return it and being that we glued the pegs in I don't think we could return it anyway. Hey, it was the width we needed, that's something I can say positive. So, you might want to think of looking for a different wood chest or not.

The product took many weeks before it was shipped. When it finally arrived it was damaged, the front foundation panel was cracked. The chest is made from poor quality materials so I wouldn't necessarily blame the damage on rough handling during shipping. I had ordered this as a birthday present for my daughter. When I reported the damage, I was offered a tweny five dollars gift certificate (which I have never received). I believe the product should have been replaced at no charge to me or a complete refund offered.

This is a great decorative storage chest for your home. The chest is easy for one person to put together, but the wooden panels are heavy. I put the chest together by myself, but it would have been easier with two people another person to help hold the panels. Putting the top on definitely needs another person holding the panel while the other person attaches the hinges and other hardware. This was very difficult, but I managed to do it with some ingenuity.

Arrived promptly and the parts are very good. I like the construction techniques and it went together quickly. Nice bit of furniture for my home.
