I sometimes feel that unstable but that might be paranoia. I used the bed for a year and had no issues. I was able to take it apart, while moving, and put it back together without instructions.

However, I'd recommend buying it at ikea.com, you'll pay $64.49 total. It's not worth any more than that.

My husband and I went to IKEA tonight and saw this bed in person. We have dubbed it the great matchstick bed. The headboard is made of slats that are about 1" by 2". Quite frankly, if I ever laid in the bed I would be afraid to move to much for fear that it would break. Not the most quality bed, definitely falls under the "temporary piece of furniture" category. We considered, very briefly, buying this for our son, but couldn't see a positive outcome to that decision!

Now off that bat I have to say don't buy it from Amazon. I never say that but factory direct from Ikea is the way to go. Its $34 pluse 25 shipping. The bed itself is simple and low to the ground, perfect for a toddler bed. You will have to buy or put in a platform for the mattress to lay on. ( isued some old cuts of MDF I had laying aound) Also we bought a purple memory foam twin matress for our daughter and it fits perfectly. For a total of under $300 bucks I don't thihnk you can beat the setup. It looks good unstained but could easily be stained or painted to match the room. For the price it can't be beat. .

I think non IKEA outlets sell the defective IKEA versions. Firstly the slats in the headboard didn't fit so I had to improvise and snap them in without the wooden pins. The bed nuts were perfectly tightened but there is a minor creaking sound every time you move. Not getting furniture from other than the organized dealer next time.
