Poundex Crandon Series Computer Desk

Poundex Crandon Series Computer DeskHome Office Computer Desk with Hutch in Dark Walnut Finish

Nice Size, Nice Color. Is as pictured. Hard to assemble with cheap tool they give you. Need to go buy a special screwdriver (l-shape) to get in the small places. Printer section fits the Epson printer/scanner in depth and width but doesn't pull out far enough to feed the paper through. The keyboard pull-out is too close to the top of the printer to allow the paper to feed. With a different printer this Desk would work.

Computer desk is a nice size, good for the price, was easy to put together. It has rollers which makes it nice to roll on a carpet.

We bought this desk in an attempt to organize our PC space. It shipped out quick, and was relatively easy to put together. The color is a dark walnut and a great compliment to our office. Looks great, and quite sturdy. Very happy with the purchase!

I ordered this desk to replace a much bulkier one and tore down the old one before unpacking the new one -which turned out to be a mistake. The very heavy package (first delivered to the wrong address by UPS!)came looking battered, with several torn spots in the cardboard heavily taped over, whether by the vendor or the shipper isn't clear. Inside the box it was quite clear that the package had been opened previously and then repacked, apparently after some attempts to assemble it. About half of the parts bags had been opened with only feeble attempts at resealing them An inventory of parts showed half a dozen dowels and as many small screws missing entirely. Some screws where loose in the larger package, scratching some surfaces, while others simply were not there. Numerous edge pieces of the "wood" were broken off. One wheel was also broken, as was the plastic front piece of the printer drawer. Several of the plastic pieces were so loose that they fall out easily.

Because I already had the old desk removed and because it was too painful to contemplate the process of repacking the parts, horsing this very heavy package back down our stairs, and then waiting for it to be picked up and a replacement received, I decided to manage with the mess that arrived. I have done a fair amount of woodworking so have the skills and equipment to manage even with the broken parts, except that I cannot replace the broken wheel. If you don't have such skills or tools, this could be a trying task.

Now about the product itself: You should be aware that this is not only a small desk, but that it sits very low, so we have had to drop our desk chair to its lowest level to fit our knees under the pull-out keyboard tray. The instructions consist of one page with diagrams showing the steps for assembly, and the information is very limited. It took a good deal of figuring to determine which side of the two starting boards went in and which went out, for example. The main materials are a very low grade particle board, covered with a wood grain look that, were ours not so marred, would look okay for what it is. The cutting and drilling was done accurately enough that screws and bolts fit where they were supposed to, so assembly was straightforward once I figured out each step. The plastic parts, especially the wheels, are very flimsy and several were broken when they arrived; even had they not been, however, it seems likely that they would not hold up well over time with regular use.

Why did I give two stars? I have the desk together and it is standing and we are using it. I actually had to drill new holes to lower the printer shelf to accommodate our specific 4-way printer, but with that change we can pull it out to insert paper for printing or scanning, etc. The keyboard/mouse tray works fine, too. So in the final analysis we are getting the use out of this that we hoped for -and if we don't look at the scratches and such, it is okay. Overall, though, this product is simply not worth the price charged on Amazon, even with free shipping by Prime.

One last nit to pick: the tiny wrench that is included is truly a joke; it is completely incapable of tightening the bolts on the wheels, the only place it is meant to be used. Why it is included and no attempt was made to supply the needed screw driver is unclear.
