Kittrich 8-Inch Memory Foam Youth Mattress

Needed a mattress for new bunk bed in the spare room. Found this one on Amazon at a good price ($178 when I purchased in 2011). I looked at a lot of different foam mattresses & toppers online before choosing this one. I liked that it came with the washable velour cover, though it seemed silly that the plain colors, like tan, were more expensive than pink or blue.

For the price this was a GREAT purchase. I would consider this to be medium to soft on firmness as compared to other memory foam type mattresses.

This is very comfortable for an adult 120-140 pounds & maybe slightly on the soft side. Haven't had any kids visit yet to test it out, but I figure it would be perfect firmness for kids with them being lighter weight than an adult.

When I read the other reviews for this mattress I wasn't sure I wanted to buy it but went ahead and did so anyway. It did not have any chemical smell at all like others had said. I thought for sure I would have to air it out for a couple days but was able to use it right away. When you receive the box you are going to think there is no way there is a twin size mattress in there but somehow they manage to shrink wrap it to fit. I never thought it would fluff up after being that squished but it did. My son loves it. I tried it and it is very comfortable. The only complaint I do have is that some colors are cheaper than others. I got the blue one and it was $10 more than the others which I realized makes no difference because we put a mattress cover and sheet over it so you can't see what color it is anyway. It was $20 cheaper than Sleepy's and free shipping. They also gave me an extra $10 off if I did not want rush delivery and I still got it in four days. I am thinking about getting one more for the spare room for sleep overs.

I bought two of these (from another retailer) for my twin boys when they were transitioning to big boy beds. We let them air out for a few days before using them, but the chemical smell was not strong at all (especially not compared to the Tempurpedic we have for ourselves). We have been using them for almost a year now and they have been through pee accidents, vomiting, etc and I have been very appreciative of the breathable waterproof cover (which goes on and off easily). The kids sleep great on them and I haven't noticed any issues in the time we have been using them. I'm planning on purchasing a 3rd one for my third child within the next few months.

I bought the same exact mattress from overstock for my boyfriend 5 yrs. old daughter (i put the review on over stock but they never post my review. hope this could help ). i open onside of the box and very strong chemical smell came out of the box and it was only a corner of the plastic wrap bag was open imagine if would take it out of the box, i do not think i would have been able to stay in the apartment. we bought the memory foam from sleepy's for ourself back in December and smelled the same. I got skin reaction because of the chemical. we thought we got bedbugs but all was because of the chemical. this is not a right matters especially for children.
