Magnussen Harbor Bay Wood Lift Top Cocktail Table

This coffee table arrived last week in a huge box. Be sure to eat your wheaties when you want to move this into the house. It is a big table and heavy too. It comes fully assembled and packed with around 80 pounds of cardboard and foam around it. Actually there were 3 layers of cardboard around it and a layer of styrofoam and a wood frame for rigidity, so it made it to my house in one piece. It took me 35 minutes to just take all the packing off it.

The color is a little darker than the picture and there is a distressed finish on it in the form of little holes in just a couple of areas. Doors work nicely and the top comes up very easily. Plus the wheels are nice to help move it around since it is quite heavy.

Two things to keep in mind:

1. The wheels do show when looking at it from the side, in case that bothers you.

2. Also, the doors have clear glass, so whatever you put inside can be seen and that may look tacky to some. I am thinking of using some stick on frosted sheet to see how that looks. The glass does not look easy to remove if you are thinking of buying some opaque glass panels.

All in all, I love my new coffee table and expect it to last for many years.

I purchased this with the intent of using it as a low media cabinet. It arrived quickly sealed in a hardened cardboard package. Upon unboxing it it was amazing how well it was packaged -no a scratch or dent on it.

I removed one door from each of the two rear sets and am using it to house a Denon AVR receiver, two DirecTV receivers, and a Sony Playstation. Everything fit well and with the doors removed it should have plenty of ventilation.

The wood is a nice warm brown color and it matches the Habor Bay end tables (we got those as well) from Magnussen.

This is a great value easily worth several hundred dollars based on comparison shopping.

Product is just as described. Heavy and well made. Very well packed and delivered on time. When top is elevated, table remains sturdy. Mechanism to raise and lower top is very well made and operates smoothly. Wheels on bottom are very handy when table needs to be moved, but sometimes table moves unexpectedly. Wheels were loose when unit arrived and are difficult to tighten. Wheels could be removed if table is to remain in one place. Doors are see-through glass and close tightly. Very nice product for a good price.

I've had this table for a few months now and I still like it, but I have a few words of caution: the screws holding the mechanism to raise and lower the table top can loosen allowing the top to fall off. This happened to me (made quite a mess spilling food and drink that was on the table). The wheels also loosened and stripped some threads as two of them fell off. Be sure to tighten all screws when you get the table and periodically check them. It would be nice if the manufacturer used some sort of locking nut, washer, etc. to help prevent loosening.

For the price, including my free prime delivery, this is a nice table. It took about 1 week to get delivered, via UPS. The table is slightly a bit more dark red than the picture depicts. It came well packaged, and it took me about 15 minutes to unpack it myself. The table seems to be put together well and the top lifts up and closes nicely. Since I eat most of my dinners in the living room, this will be a great piece of furniture that will be used quite often.
