In regards to the backboard that the other commenter mentioned, I do not really feel the same way. An 8 inch mattress will cover that, and unless the daybed wasn't assembled properly, it's not a 2ft gap. It's more like 8-9 inches. See my pics in the product image area or here: I'm not sure how long they'll stay up. Oh yeah, don't forget to order both mattresses! I thought it came with at least one, oh well.

1 hour maxWe purchased this daybed for our teen daughter two months ago, and so far, she loves it. It's durable and attractive, however, I feel that the backboard is thin and shallow; this should have been a taller, solid piece so that there isn't a 2ft "opening" in the back of the bed (this of course is hidden by pillows in the picture). I would not recommend this bed for a small child because he/she could roll right under the backboard and onto the floor.
