I found this on Amazon and it was very reasonably priced compared to other twin beds. I got it shipped to me in about a week. It came in a thin long box that was very, very heavy. There was no way I could lift it up myself a flight of stairs to where the mattress was. I opened the box and slid out pieces of it and carried them upstairs two boards at a time. I was kind of surprised that there weren't as many pieces as I thought there would be.
The only real complaint I have is that some of the pieces weren't stamped with the part number they were said to have but I figured it out.
It says you need two people to put this together. Not true. I did it on my own and I'm just a girl. :D
It was pretty easy to put together. I mean, really easy. Besides trying to figure out what parts were what, I had no problems whatsoever.
Most the screws have predrilled holes and the ones that didn't, the screws weren't that hard to screw in.
It's not a high bed, it's only about a foot and a half off the floor but it beats a mattress being on the floor as I had it.
I don't' see anywhere to connect a headboard to so if you're looking to attach a headboard you may run into some problems or maybe it needs a specific headboard that doesn't have to attach to the bed, I don't know.
I'm happy with it.
It does have corners on it but they do include those plastic corner dohickeys to put on them so you won't hurt yourself on them. I just thought I'd add that in there for people who may want to use this for little kids. I would glue them on though instead of using the sticky stuff they give you to attach them with just to be extra safe because most of the sticky stuff bunched up into a little glob by the time I got it to stick on the bed frame. No big deal if you have glue or super glue, really.
I'd recommend this to someone looking for a lower priced bed that you don't need a boxspring to have with the mattress. With mattresses and boxsprings being rather expensive, the $95 I paid for this saved me some money. The bed seems ok to sleep on for a year. Not for college, not for life.
I gave it a 3/5 because:
1) Steps #3 and #4 do not indicate where the long and short "L"-named boards have to go..
Why is this? its because youll have an issue with the amount of holes, plastic dowels and screws.
2)The BOARDS are not labeled. According to the manual ALL BOARDS must be labeled: B1 (2),B (1),H (2),L2 (2),and L1 (2), for a total of 9 Boards... GUESS WHAT? I only had 2 labeled boards. But then again they are easy to identify.
The only boards that shouldve been properly identified were the small "L" boards because you actually do not know where they go (and this a brainer because there are 8 holes in each board rather than just 4.)
THIS was done by South Shore because they knew they had messed up with the hole markings. Things didn't match-up correctly.
If they would've been smart, they would've labeled some Side boards with symbols such as and umbrella (showing if its upright or not) and "Front or BACK" for the short-side boards.
3)One of the large B-Boards (where you rest down), was not properly drilled and they used some sort of resin to fix it up. PREPOSTEROUS! (see pictures)
4)The other L boards (the front and back) were drilled down 8 times on each: Total 16 holes!... 4 of them you actually need per board.. And you only need 2 plastic dowels and not 4 on each board because they other holes don't match up.
While trying to use all 4 dowels on each board, you could easily see that they did not match properly because the board was actually either 1inch too high or too low, depending on how you place it. This created an elevation on the bed. Elevations do not go here people: According to the manual everything is supposed to be flat. And this is the reason why they added all the holes so that you could waste 3 hours trying to figure out what the heck was going on....
5)The Z-01 piece, appears on the picture to be adjacent to a board. I used it as an ANGLE-tool. Turns out that's what its for.
Discard after use.
6)The corner protectors... nice but the adhesive didn't work. All the sticky glue peeled of from the paper. Useless. Use other type of adhesive.
Item was delivered on time.
After sleeping one day in it. I cant complain. I would suggest putting some sort of cushion under the mattress, ie carpet-leftover. I would definitely suggest a pillow-top mattress for a good sleep. These run about $170 dollars on some mattress company.
Overall 3/5. $60 would have been a good price for the hassle.

I got this bed for my 2 year old son as his first "big boy" bed. He absolutely loves it! It is very easy for him to get in and out of, and the safety rail that i got for it fits well, so far no one has fallen out of bed. He went from sleeping in bed with mom and dad (starting to get old) to absolutley loving this bed and sleeping on his own! As far as I am concerned this is a miracle bed!Read Best Reviews of South Shore Libra Collection Twin 39-inch Platform Bed, Black Here
I bought this for my 14 year old son. He likes it so I like it. Transaction went smoothly, quick delivery, fairly easy to assemble. We had to request a missing bolt but it was sent to us right away. The only thing we didn't care for was that the top/platform was not black as well I ended up painting it so that the parts that showed around the mattress did not look tacky.Want South Shore Libra Collection Twin 39-inch Platform Bed, Black Discount?
The head piece did not have the pre-drilled holes lined up properly. After putting it together, the mattress or platform support would have been going downhill at an angle. Had to take it apart and redrill the headboard piece. Then the mattress laid flat. A real pain because you spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out what you did wrong since you used the holes that were pre drilled. Took an extra 45 minutes. The instructions and illustrations suck. Once the bed is together you notice the top face of the platform does not get completely covered by the mattress. The plaform is plain old pressed particle board and sticks out around the edges of the mattress. Looks like hell. If it were painted black it would like nice, but its not. In the website product picture it looks like a beige or tan surface. But, it's just unfinished particle board and really looks bad.
