The previous bed frame for my king-sized bed didn't have a middle horizontal bar or its associated wheels. The horizontal bars slid together. It was shaky at best. After a few years, the middle pieces began to come apart and got rickety.This bed frame has the additional bar and wheels, as noted, giving it more strength. All bars are solid metal from one end to the other. Heavily-fused vertical & horizontal pieces set into each other and solid corners. No cheap soldered pieces to end up separating or bolts to loosen.
Two locking wheels and eight rotating wheels are included. The instructions do not notate that there are different types of wheels and I did not notice until the mattress was already in place.
The bed moves slightly when the dog jumps up on the bed because I have a smooth, wooden floor. I placed rubber furniture coasters under the wheels and this stopped all movement.
The additional bed height will take some getting used to since I had the mattress on the floor for the past year until I got around to purchasing this frame.
The sturdiness of this frame should last longer than the life of the bed. No more worries about the mattress falling through the separating frame!
